Sept Cookout - Elena Gallegos

Hi gang. Saturday Sept. 6th (as well as Sat. Sept. 13) were already booked, but I was able to get Sunday Sept 7th from noon to 4-ish. Hope that works for everyone. We'll be at Double Shelter and will need to bring our own propane grill, as the site does not have one. Seeing how I drive a truck and I have a propane grill, I will provide this. Maybe someone else could be in charge of bringing the burgers and dogs etc.? Should be a nice time.

dave

Exclamation Oh Boy (HELP)!

Didn't check with the boss on this one first. Everyone realize this is the Sunday during Labor Day weekend? (I didn't of course ). She said that we probably had weekend plans and that she'd do them alone if need be. Which would be fine also. But. I haven't put any money down yet and we need to get an idea of how many besides Paul are in and if we should proceed for this Labor Day Sunday. Can I get some feedback soon please!?!

Hi Dave -

I think you're still OK with the calendar. You are talking about Sunday September 7th for the meeting, but Labor Day is actually Monday, September 1st. So the Sunday you are proposing is the weekend after Labir Day weekend.

At least that's how it looks on my calendar? Check it out and see if you agree.

Evan

My calendar agrees with Evan's. Wiki says Labor day is always on the first Monday of September, which happens to be Sep. 1 this year.

i actually work the 7th. and won't be at the station in that area this time. Steve can run the meeting, so no problem with that. i am off Sundy the 14th, if that isn't a problem with anyone. either way works for me.

i will coordinate with Skipper to get the burgers, etc. at least if the club votes to have the club funds purchase that. we'll put it up at the August meeting for a vote.

Well Marty never answers voice mail, apparently only works weekends, has called me, ONCE, when we were not home of course, and well, getting in touch with this guy is like finding the ice bucket / machine in hell. Hey Jon! You're a COA employee, any suggestions or axle grease?!?

So, hey, its still July, put this on your calendars, but until I actually talk to the guy and give a credit card number, nothing's definite!

We're getting pretty close to Sept. 7th. Are we confirmed, put down a deposit or paid up for the shelter? The first post says the time is noon - 4ish. Is this still good? Shawn, do you still have to work on that day?

As far as I know we're still on for the 7th at Elena Gallegos, but looking back on the thread nobody confirmed to Dave it would be that day. What happened at the August meeting on the burgers etc.? Are we on?

Better Late Than Never...We're ON!!

Sheesh! Sorry gang. Kinda been pretty busy and outta town alot of August, and could never get a hold of Marty Sprunk, the bastiiid in charge of COA Open Space shelters who avoids his phone and doesn't return voice mail messages. So yesterday I drove to the Open Space office in Montessa Park and they were happy to take my check. Its a go!

Sunday 7 September, we are going to be at the "Double Shelter" in Elena Gallegos, and we have it from 11AM to 5PM. If theres a ranger at the gate, just tell them you're with the group at Double Shelter and you won't have to pay an entrance fee. I am bringing my gas grill and will bring killer green chile and green chile sauce fresh from Lemitar. I'm assuming someone (Steve?) is getting meat and buns and other condiments...can we NOW (that I've FINALLY upheld my end of the bargain), start a list of who is coming and maybe bringing what?!? Obviously since this isn't at anyone's house, we'll need everything from plates/napkins/utensils to baked beans and zee pickles. A to Z. BYODrinks as always. Please indicate how many of you are coming and what you might be bringing to share. We still have a week to go, so everything should work out peachy. Sorry I took so long and was incommunicado.

dave

Might want to double check, but knowing the City I suspect no alcohol.

A quick search of the City website rules doesn't say anything about alcohol, but it does say "no glass containers allowed in Open Space."
