BRC: Fort Pierre National Grassland Releases EA for Comment

Attention South Dakota Recreationists!

The Fort Pierre National Grassland (FPNG) is proposing to implement the National Travel Management Rule by designating routes that will be open for motorized travel and prohibiting motorized travel off of designated routes. They are proposing changes to their motorized travel system and are requesting comments on their Route Designation Project Environmental Assessment (EA).

The analysis area is comprised of approximately 116,000 acres of federal land located south of Pierre, South Dakota, north of Interstate 90, and west of the Lower Brule Indian Reservation.

COMMENTS CONCERNING THIS ACTION WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL JUNE 27, 2008.

Comments can be e-mailed to adetoy@fs.fed.us. If comments are sent electronically, please submit them in plain text (.txt), rich text format (.rtf), or Microsoft Word (.doc) format. Written comments may be mailed to: FPNG, Anthony DeTony, District Ranger, 1020 Deadwood Street, Fort Pierre, SD 57532 or hand-delivered to the FPNG office during business hours (8am to 12pm and 1pm to 5pm, Monday through Friday excluding holidays). Comments may also be submitted by Fax to (605) 224-6517.
