Especially since I want to make this rig super reliable where I can drive it to the OBX with you guys next spring.

If you REALLY want to tempt me.... find me a suitable DIESEL to go in there!! I actually would be fine with the old stock 2L series, but a turbo diesel would really be nice but now you are talking big $$ vs a lil old 22re that should be plentiful and cheap and reliable.

I am trying to do some trading now for my Scanoe / MinnKota on a lil pop-up camper I could tow behind me!!

I think I know of one or two... how much are you looking to spend?/?

Well I can get a whole 96 Taco with the 2.7, etc etc for $1000 - so def trying to keep under that. I have seen engine/tranny/tcase combos going in the $500 range on pirate. Something in that ballpark for a good reliable setup.

for sale

Not affiliated but saw this in Scott's Mill while running around Apex today.

Didn't spend much time looking at it but didn't look too bad...kinda like the red bezel

919.649.8400
Didn't see a price on it, but wouldn't expect it to be too much.

I saw that there in June when visiting a friend who lives around the corner. Wasn't for sale then...

Jon,

Mine is a little better than Jason's. It does not start to vibe until around 60. It's 180.00 to retube and balance or I think 380.00 for a new toyo shaft from Cdan.

Have you driven an SM420? They are interesting....had one in my last 40. Super low crawl gear, but the rest of the tranny has very odd gear spacing. PITA on the street and everyone behind me would groan when I shifted into 1st on the trail.

Oh, and a bitchin FJ45 that may or may not be for sale.

WTB 95-97 Locked FZJ80

I've been searching for a late model, clean 80 with lockers for a while now but haven't found exactly what I want. Color doesn't matter, nor does mileage as long as it is sub 200K. Prior HG work is good but not mandatory.

I've got plenty of time so no hurry but I'd pull the trigger if the right one popped up.

PM me if you know of one or happen to come across one...

Below are some TLCs I've recently come across - no affiliation to any of them BTW, a few examples are $$$:

76 FJ40, Asheville: 1976 Toyota FJ40

86 FJ60, Asheville, $28.5K: Landcruiser FJ60 1986- one of a kind

86 FJ60, CLT, $22K: 1986 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60

75 FJ40, CLT, $20K: 1975 Toyota Landcruiser FJ40 V8

89 FJ62, CLT: 1989 toyota landcruiser FJ62

85 FJ60, Raleigh, no pics, good price, new engine, might be worth checking out: All must go, dunebuggys,RV,Land Cruiser

87 FJ60, Kannapolis: 1987 Toyota LandCruiser

92 FJ80, Durham, cheap, needs work: 1992 Toyota Landcruiser

70 FJ40, Durham: 1970 FJ40 Landcruiser

83 FJ60, Raleigh: Toyota Landcruiser MUST SELL!

79 FJ40, Pittsboro: 1979 Toyota Landcruiser FJ40

73 FJ40, Wilkesboro: 1973 fj40 Landcruiser

71 FJ40, Winston-Salem: 1971 FJ40 Toyota Landcruiser

Someone has to nab this thing 4X4 1983 TOYOTA TRUCK

I've got a Mercedes 4 cylinder diesel that would be awesome in that thing.

Haven't had much time to take pics and remove parts lately, and will be out of town wheeling the next two weekends. Here is a list of parts I know are good. I will add pics and prices as I have time. And it is a '73 FJ40, not a '72.

Body tub - 98% rust free
frame
front fenders
hood
grill
running boards
rear half doors
full front doors
windshield frame
t-case
axles
driveshafts
aftermarket 6-point roll cage
bikini top
aftermarket dash cap cover
front bucket seats - good condition
long jump seats

And lots of small parts and pieces.

FJ Cruiser at GMC dealer on Old Wake Forest

I saw this FJ Cruiser at the GMC/Cadilliac dealer on Old Wake Forest road. It was lifted, had an ARB winch bumper (no winch) and some aftermarket wheels. Price was $26,900.
