cruiser history

Hey Juan,
I actually found it on Mud....There was a guy in Clemmons (Steve)who had it since the 80's. He bought it from Joe Turpin (JT Outfitters) before he started JTO. I was looking for something under 5k and I ended up getting this for 2200. With some help from a local cruiser parts warehouse AKA (RK), I was able to get the hood windhields frame and another set of fenders and aprons.

One of Steve's sons was driving it one day and had to lock up the brakes. when he did, it rolled....they flipped it back over and drove it home. The son was then given a volvo station wagon to drive. It was kind of funny though, each time we went to look at it, one of his sons tried to talk us out of it. I guess they were hoping that Steve would not sell it. From what I can tell from the paperwork, it has always been an NC cruiser.

Erymer, great story....One thing I enjoy about cruisers is hearing the stories on how people got them...It is something about each cruiser's pasts that just gets me excited...

Cool rigs K_os !!! where were those pictures taken at?

I know what you mean Juan. Half the fun of owning one is learning where it's been.

Did you have Trent do some work on that Cruiser in Raleigh a couple of years ago? It looks like one he was working on before he moved away from Raleigh.

Oh ok. It does look red. The Cruiser I was thinking about was red, and looked very similar to yours.

Well, I reckon if I'm gonna be on here from time to time I might as well post pics too. Bought my '72 FJ40 bone stock in '91. Now it's SOA on 35" Dunlops, with a 400 small block converted to TBI, SM420, No-slip rear, scout p/s, 4 wheel disc brakes, homemade front and rear bumpers and tire carrier, Sidekick fold and tumble rear seats..... http://tymp.tripod.com/tellico_-_2006_027.jpg

Had an FJ55 aka "The Pickle" http://tymp.tripod.com/pickle.html mods were mini-truck front disc conversion and Pertronix ignition.

Sold the Pickle to buy my FJ60 "Bam Bam" http://tymp.tripod.com/DSCN0685.JPG with blown 2F. Shoved a 5.7L TBI chevy in it, added a roof rack, 6" rear shackles (I don't recommend this), and home made camp shower.

Sorry for using links, but I just don't feel like resizing pics. if you go the web site, pay it no attention, it hasn't been touched since like 2001.

There are alot of locals that want to se it something fierce.

A few would like a ride. And one even asked if he could drive it. That was the same answer as could you take my Harley or my wife for a drive.
