Interesting event. Good time overall and ditto on some new faces. Glad we got out on the trails a little bit. Showing up at 730 for that tent may have been a bit early. Plenty of people but all over a large area and not to interested in all of the vendor stuff up top.
Did we get any new members or just TLCA membership?
I do have to make a run out there Darin...no exuses as you are only about 30 minutes from post I think.

It was goo to see some of you again and meet some of you for the first time. Aside from the Heep that tried to take out the convoy down there, I had a great time.
Early in the day
Best looking rig at Rockvember. The in/exo cage was great

Notice how I was not driving the 80 . I had to fight tooth and nail prior to leaving and I lost out. Deirdre is an off-roading machine. Can't wait to get her on to the harder trails there in a couple of weeks.
Notice how there is no mud on that Heep. If he had some actual HP (500+ range) behind that thing he was probably the only one that stood a chance getting thru that mud pit. I don't know the largest tire size that tried but that thing had 46" inchers.

Kind of a strange event! It was great to see all of you again and to meet a few new folks, which coupled with this being a benefit for our troops made this a great day.
I am glad I left when I did, as I got closer to Greg's house I realized the headlights of the 55 did a superb job of illuminating the road ahead - all 15 - 20 ft of it. Plus I couldn't see the gauges any longer.
The 55 is actually quieter with the windows down than up!
Just east of Asheboro, some knucklehead woman about 200 ft in front of me, going 55 in the right lane, decided she needed to stop immediately, and make a u-turn across 64. As I fought the Pig to not run off the road and into someone's living room, I cursed her. I then realized that for the rest of the ride, if any person, object, or animal pulled in front of me or stopped suddenly, I would let out a war yell and just enjoy the carnage.

You have to love the quirks of the older rides. Sure makes the newer rides shine in their own way.

Hate I didn't get to see you guys, but my magic touch worked flawlessly on Al's cruiser and I found a way for stuff to go wrong. Made the turn onto River Rd and death wobble hit, next thing I knew I was turning into the Swift Island BP parking lot without turning the wheel. Got out to find all the DS steering nuts loose and one was broken.
Luckily my family was half a mile down the road setting up for our barn party, so my uncle picked me up with his trailer and I got to spend the rest of the afternoon replacing a stud and torquing down nuts. By the time that fun was over with I had to go deal with my family at our barn party/family reunion.
Looks like it was a great time, and I'm sad I missed it. But I *think* I've got Al's death wobble under wraps now....so atleast something good came out of the ordeal and nobody got hurt.

What you were supposed to post was, "Man, Al's cruiser did really well in the mud pit and I'm suprised that we were able to get it back on it's wheels so quickly, and all we broke was a wheel stud!. It's worth the 2 ft high plastic trophy!"

Nope, not that I saw. The pit kept getting them in the end.
Side note, everyone should have left their tickets with me, we stayed until the raffle (after the band), and there was a lot of numbers called with no one to claim the prize, so they kept calling until someone won them...
But we didn't win anything...

Nope, like Brian said, the same spot caught everyone. Like Allen said, the Suzuki could say his rig was as good as the 1000 hp Eliminator Too since they made it just as far.
One guy went back and put "tractor tires" on and almost got past the big hole. He hit that thing fast and got onto the upslope of the hole but couldn't get past it. The "kid" (forgot his name) in the Rhino lined FJC ran the pit and got stuck in the same spot also. He threw his serpentine belt and Brian and Jason stepped up to help him get it back on. Well done guys...

Might have stayed if we had known. We were told by the guys when we dropped them off that we had to fill them out becuase they were only going to do one draw and then call the people if necessary becuase so many people were suppossed to be listening to the band at the same time and watching the rock crawling event.
LAME....I'm usually really lucky and win things all the time...I'm sure mine was called ...Where is my Tacoma

So what was the story with that mangled J**p?? Guess I left too early to see it happen.
BTW - Darin your 45 is phenomenal. You really need to get up with Barry and do a photo shoot..it would be a perfect combo...2 of the best looking 45s ever!!

Just a bunch of young men with a pink cooler in the back decided to give the mud pit a run. They hit it at about 35 mph and plowed through to the first hole and sprayed the knuckleheads standing next to the guardrail, falling all over themselves trying to get away. I'd guess you'd find it on youtube in the near future.
And, I agree with getting the two 45's together, would be a great photo op for sure...

Long story of that jeep is it ran the 4x4 cross in 08 and got beat to crap. Then they did a front flip off of a big rock pile in the summer of 08. I thought they had killed it but looks like it came back for more.

Good to see everyone again. My family had a good time...though wished there was a little more action earlier in the day.
I think that Breuer might have had the most fun though...crazy dog slept the rest of the night.

We were told the same thing about the raffle. I might have to go talk to someone soon. I made pretty good friends with the person that set this whole thing up. Too late for this one but if they do something again they will hopefully tell people the right thing whatever that is.

Some additional Photos
Was not at all what I was expecting...little disappointed for what little time I was there. Not to mention I am still wondering where the $40 it cost me to get in went too....
All in all it was a nice turn out, good to see everyone again. Hopefully Jon with TLCA was impressed with our support if nothing else. Hopefully he was able to add a few new members to TLCA.
Looks like everyone hung around for a little while so hopefully the afternoon got a little more interesting than the morning.
Enjoy...
