Thanks.

Now if i can just find a good 9000 lbs lift for it in my price range it will be going in, in 30 days from now.

Had the extra concrete poured just for the lift in that area. 8 inches deep there.

Thanks, but there is a company in Highpoint thats sells the Mohawk lift for the main company. Just trying to see if anyone out there has ever used them or actually knows the name of them. Got their info from the manufacturer.

I never feel comfortable under those things. It is not the hydraulics that I trust it is the placement of those arms on the truck. Freaky.

You are right. Buy something good. Your life depends on it. We had a freind get crushed under a car when he put it on cinder blocks. Of course they failed and his wife found him under the car that evening.

The only thing i have done kinda like that is have a cruiser tub sitting on some hardwood firewood that was about 2 foot around. I was not under the tub but it was pretty redneck lookin. I have also seen some bad things happen like the above, and it never turns out good.

I am looking at the Mohawk 10,000 lbs one right now but that is some serious coinage.

Another little update. Electrical guy just left at 2000hrs. Took me telling someone that i was going to jump on someones desk to get these people out here. Have the electrical inspect and final inspect tomorrow and then hopefully the contractor for Lumbee electric can come out after that and hook up my power and all will be well soon.

As they say. One step forward and 4 steps back.

Got the final inspection yesterday and the electric company was out 30 minutes later to hook up my power. But for dropping the power to the house underground the locater person had not come out to do their job so that did not happen. And the pvc tubbing going up through the concrete to the meter box on the garage was too small. So as fast as they got here they left.

So now after too many phone calls and other nice things being said we got the locator dude out here yesterday and the concrete person is coming out at the crack of dawn Monday morning before the power company comes back out monday morning to try to run my power again.

If their is one thing i have learned , it is to be your own General Contractor. Do not bother to pay the middle man because you will end up doing it yourself in the long run.

But on a positive note i did go buy some concrete sealant from the local concrete place and got that down yesterday.

I'll give you a ring during the week then that way you can make sure to have electricity and then try and plan anything thing that you could use an extra hand with.

I feel your pain...(in a smaller less stressful scenario). I tried for about a month to pay an electrician to install a breaker and plug in my garage for my welder. After numerous calls and begging, I finally I had to do it myself.

You'd think that with the economy the way it is, most electricians would do anything for business.

I am finding that more and more lately. Alot of the people we called to get some prices from are now finally starting to call back and we are telling them you lost out. They say they are not sure if we are really wanting stuff or not. We tell them they lost out on cash money.

Now praying that tomorrow works out.

Again one step forward and 2 steps back.

Finally have power run to the garage and it all works. Thank gosh that pain is over. Now onto the fun part. Got home to find the water line from the well to the barn was cut. So, after getting home today from picking up rims / looking at new furniture we got to go back out to Lowes to get some line for the barn. Luckily i was smart enough this morning to cut the power to the well before we left out.

Now only a few more small things to go and we will be done with this nightmare. Never again. Will be my own GC from now on forsure.

Now lets see if i can get them to fix the concrete and pick up their pigstye. They will do it before final payment is forsure.

Why is it that most if not all contractors SUCK. Is it a disease? A secret code? A mob of lazy ones that kill all of those that try to break the mold? I don't know.

Have moved most stuff in already. Boy that was / is fun. Moving tool boxes in grass is a pain.Great part is the grass is already tore up so when i drug the Hooptie from one to the other it do not do any more damage to the grass. Got a truck load of dirt dropped off so that is what i am doing today, one wheelbarrow at a time. Broke one wheelbarrow already this morning and went and bought a new one. Trying to fill up around the concrete pad before we get too much rain and it tries to take away the dirt from under the pad.

I will say this though. Some stuff i had that i thought was sure is small in this thing.

Another late update. Everything is done minus the lift and building some benches and some other things. Guy got his final paycheck after coming out here himself and walking around and picking up all of the garbage his guys left here. Told him he would do it prior to his final check and he did. Got to hand that part to him, but should of never got to this.

Will try to get some pics later with most of my playtoys in it.

Got most everything moved in now. Just reall trying to figure out a way of building some strong shelving. Strong enough to hold tranny's and the likes. Want it to look half way professional also at the same time. Thought about building some out of some heavy wood. Open to ideas.

Darin, I have seen alot of large shops build shelves out of wood 4 x 4 posts and decking. wide enough for pallet stacking and ease of removal should a forklift be in the future. Could always just get a fork attachment for a small john deere.

Don't know if I can post here or not. Do read this stuff daily for info on the FJ 40.
Found used Lowes quality pallet racks at a salvage yard here in Charlotte. It was a
few years ago, but they are metal with metal cross pieces, and are pallet worthy.
They come in 20 foot lengths and we cut to fit our shop. Hope this helps
