Somebody please explain.....

I have heard about this but seriously.....

2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser S, Silver

I thought the only one I knew of was the SEMA version....

You might as well throw a J**p CJ grill on your land cruiser.

Nope, there have been a number of them being hacked into this form. This one looks particularly bad with the soft top up, reminds me of the soft top PT Cruiser. I simply don't think the body lines can be made into a soft top. There are enough issues with blind spots that are only enhanced with a job like this.

No explanation necessary, if it hits the street, someone will hack it, drop it, put 24's on it and ruin a perfectly good rig...

While my dad was here we were thinking how and if that could be done to an FJ Cruiser. I guess the answer is yes. But that top looks like crap. The same body lines of the convertable PT Cruisers...not cool. But I think with the right modifications and if they went to a more traditional soft top that was square and had more room in the back, put on some tube doors or made a soft door variant (at least that small suicide door...that is the worst part) that it would be very cool. Making it a hard top only was a huge mistake on Toyotas part with the FJ Cruiser.

I think there is a TON of potential there. Minus the 35K price tag. I'm sure I could find a way to save 20K with my sawsall and make it work a bit better than that

Props for trying, but that looks horrible. As stated the curves of the rear door just don't fit a convertible, plus they don't roll down. Windows up w/ top down is a big pet peeve of mine.

Also don't like the dome light mod & 3rd tail light. Looks like they were just thrown on there.

Didn't know this existed in RDU.

If it had a roll cage that extened to the rear cargo area i'd get it. Well that and a solid front

I'm with Joe

Don't like it. Should have a free sixer of Zima in the console. I think the one in the auto show pic above is pretty hurky though. Throw two dana 60's under that bad boy and I'd be in line. I do wish we'd get back to building trucks like they use to - less soft and road gadgety, more rugged / built to take a beating.

Hey, I saw that yellow one in person at SEMA. It did look good, but just not sure about structural integrity. If it was easy, looked good, and safe - Toyota would be selling one!

I'm sure you're right. Looks like they have enough meat around the door frame for a beefy factory cage though. Still love to see a live axle under the front end like the Rubicon has. Not a big fan of IFS off road.

Probably not this year Al, but again sometime in the near future. Vacation money needs to go towards a tropical destination YTBD.

Have you been before? If not, one word of advice - comfortable shoes!

I'd like to see this go into production as a 2dr with removable hard top like the 40 for me and as is for the wife.

So how much would you pay for an aluminum bodied FJ43 on a Tacoma frame/drivetrain but with a SAS on the front end? All brand new, of course.....

Oh, and a bitchin FJ45 that may or may not be for sale.

"Much like a cat or hot buttered toast, the correct side will always try to land down. If the bezel is on upside down, then the force of it trying to right itself may cause you to roll your cruiser unexpectedly."
