Carolina beach

Making a trip over there around 2pm tommorow. Visiting my brother in my trusty 100, figured I'll come check out the beach driving.

It'll be a built 100 and 4runner. Feel free to join us or post up any comments about the beach driving. I've read it's fun, anybody been out there lately?

Pm me if ya wanna meet us there. I'll be at the north beach.

Nick.

As alot of fun. Will be going back tommoow same time for a bit. Sand was pretty soft.

Was asked to leave by the patrol becuase I couldn't resist spinning and tires a bit, and I guess they are extremely strict about that kind of stuff.

Like I said earlier, feel free to join us tommorow.

Please be sure to gather knowledge of all beach driving regulations. We don't need any club presence when the NFS and other organizations are looking for reasons to shut areas down. Tread lightly and make sure to leave as little of a footprint as you can when traveling "off road"

Well, i was at the furthest point away from the exit, where the sand extremely hard, so it didnt leave any mark above normal driving, just slightly slicker. the officer came over and asked me what I was doing. I told him i was just goofin off and apoligized. He asked me to leave politley and i said not a problem. Ill be heading back tommorow. with some more knowlegde and a big camera for beauty shots.

i made the mistake of being irresponsible, but you gotta learn somewhere! and NC is really cool. better than GA hot ass summers and bugs

Hey Nick,
What beach are you on down there. We go to Topsail every fall and I could only drive a little bit there at the north end.
We went down to Fort Fisher which was Ok, but mostly just a straight drive down the sand.

Then there was a spot where you paid 10$ to drive and Fish but it didnt look like a wheeling spot so we passed. May have been Carolina Beach. There was an actual machine to pay to get in.

Any other open beachs in the area?

Thanks
-Dave

dave

the beach was "carolina beach". it was about 2 miles long and about 5-600 feet wide. it was huge. they suggest airing down your tires becuase the sand is NOT packed.

not to many people today since it was nasty out, but around 10, most were fishing. it was beautfful and the first time ive had my truck on sand like that. definatley not wheeling. i got in trouble for "burning out" so wheeling, go elsewhere. it was a fun place to cruiser in the sand and drive onto sandbars and splash around.

ill be going back tommorow. definatley worth the 20 bucks ( bit steep, kinda pissed me off, but gotta pay to play in some places)

Nick

Nope Kure/Fort Fisher and Carolina Beach are the only ones in the Wilmington area to drive on ($10), and as Greg said it's not a real wheelin spot. Back when there used to be dunes, it was much cooler, becuase there were little trails from the beach side to the sound side. Then the Marine Fisheries Patrol/Sheriff's cracked down becuase they found people up on top of the dunes tearing them up.

But then it all got flattened after Fran/Bertha/Floyd...

Thanks for the info.
When you guys go OBX, do you go to Corolla? You have to be good on the beach and for good reason, lots of people and horses.
But off the beach there are still some spots to have fun, for now.

BTW, there is a post on the 60 forum trying to get all the east coast 60s together. Most folks are leaning towards OBX but dont have a date.
Someone mentioned your spring run but I'm not sure if they meant that it would be good to form up or not.

What about horses taking a dump. That's water pollution...
