Charlotte NC Mechanic Recommendation

Hello Everyone,

I am new to the forum and just put in an offer on a 89 FJ62 in Charlotte, NC. I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction to get a pre-purchase inspection completed before I finalize my purchase! I checked the mechanic recommendation sticky, though all of the CLT recommendations were from over 3 years ago.

Please help if you have any suggestions.

I really look forward to joining and becoming a productive member of the community!

Thanks in advance.

Also just throwing this out there as a possible alternative...I would be willing to pay someone knowledgeable in CLT to look it over and check it out with me. I could use the learning experience and someone could make some extra $.

Just another thought/option.

I'm hoping some of our Charlotte members are going to chime in. I lived there once, but not when I was of driving age, so I'd be no help!

ShellB - there are quite a few good guys in that area that I am sure will chime in, there's alot of knowledge on that side of the state as well. I also believe that is a reputable mechanic in that area that works on landcruisers. Let me see what I can find.

Where in Charlotte is it??? Do you also live in charlotte??
There is Yota Tech in fort mill but i'd be willing to take a look at it for you, also josh 77cruiser has a 62 he might also be willing to take a look at it for you. If you can make it to our meeting on sunday I can discuss it more with you.

Thanks everyone. Yes I live in Charlotte and the 62 is in Harrisburg.

I talked to my BMW mechanic at Touring Car and they are going to look it over for me, but I would love to have a someone else take a look as well if it is convenient.

I need to find out more about the meeting Sunday! Would like to come for sure.

Thanks again,
Brett

and I guess if I read the "official welcome" correctly.

http://forum.ih8mud.com/nc-olde-nort...ml#post4668865

If you just want to show up an meet some people and not stay to do any rafting that is cool. We can talk a little bit about the truck and see if I can find some time to look at it for you. (My mom is flying in to town tomorrow so my time is a little limited)

Sounds like a lot of fun. If I am happy with the inspection tomorrow, I am planning on picking it up...so if all of that happens I will bring it on Sunday, perhaps you/others can take a look at it then and help point me in the right direction.

Brett,
Let us know and we can help however.
Al is right, the Toyota Techs down in Ft Mill are very well versed Cruiser guys and can really give you a good idea of what condition its in. I saw that cruiser and from first glance it looks pretty solid, i didnt stop though.

I also have another guy that I used for a lot of info and work. His name is Eddie Rivera and he runs the Hook Tire and service(Goodyear) store on the corner of South Blvd and Seneca. I have known him and the shop for 16 years and they have seen all 4 of my cruisers so they can help too. If you go in tell them I sent you.

Good luck with the purchase and look forward to meeting you.
If you have any questions after the BMW guys look at it call me.7049049927
Later
