September Ride: Uwharrie
Date has been set and campsite reserved for September 26-27. Badin Lake campsite A.
I've invited a few guys from Mid Atlantic Toyota Land Cruiser Association to this ride, as most have not been but wanted to go. Thy're looking for some people to show them the ropes... let's make them feel welcome.
I relalize this is a ways out, but I wanted more people to show up than last time!

It is fun, but their trip is at the begining of September so you can make both if you want to. I might be doing that also.

Badarse! This is what I'm talking about. Now that I know far enough out I can actually get the wife on board and get out there. You can count me in on this one.

There has been discussion of making this a 2 night event and starting Friday night. I'm all for it, let me see if the campsite is still available.

I put it on my calendar. I should be able to come up Friday morning.
Haven't wheeled in ages.
Working on getting a car for road trips so I can put the swampers back on Bonnie.
Also on a OBX or Carolina Beach trip in August before I take the Dunlops off.

Hopefully all the mechanical issues with the 40 will be worked out by that point, and I'll have the cage and power steering in. I'm planning on coming out for this one.

I'm thinking of going to this one but not sure if I will make it on Friday night or just a quick daytrip on Saturday to meet up with the gang.
What are the details for this trip (cost, food, activities, etc.)? Would I be able to bring a couple of non-ONSC members along?

In answer to your questions
1. $2 million
2. Candy Bars
3. Donkey Show
4. Yes
Actually i'll let Brian answer these as my answers might be a little off.

Cost, well it depends on the amount of people going. The group site is reserved and the cost is $40 each night, so per person is going to be pretty cheap. I recommend buying a season ORV pass, rather than the day pass, shows the Forest Service the interest in the ORV trails from the monetary standpoint. I think they're $30?
Food, will have to be discussed. We ended up with a lot of food at the Brown Mountain trip, so it's a learning experience. I had mentioned a big pot of chili... We'll discuss in more detail.
Activities, wheelin' of course! I haven't been down to the lake, but I've got some kayaks...
Non-ONSC people are welcome, as I will be bringing some extended family with me...

Is this per truck or per person? I apologize for my ignorance.

Yes that is per truck, don't need one if you aren't riding the trails.

The campfire scene in Blazing Saddles came to mind. If you've never seen it or don't remember it, click HERE.
Again, hate I have a conflict for this event. Hope to see some of you guys at the USNWC in Charlotte on Sunday.

My calendar is marked and I've informed the wife. I'm sure to miss some fun Christmas parties but am happy to so as to spend time on the trails and recreating that scene from Blazing Saddles.

All,
I know in the past it hadn't worked out but I will be talking with Terry with the Uwharrie NFS at 10 today to make arrangements for erosion training and workdays on this trip. Plans plan to attend and show support to maintain and improve our states trail system....more details to follow our conversation

Just had a close call. We are going to be at a truck show in Sept and as luck would have it, it's the week before. So we dodged a bullet on that one. For a minute there, I thought I might miss the ride.

All,
Before the thread got reset due to the server problem, I mentioned trying to follow the same plan that Greg set up for our last Uwharrie trip. If that sounds reasonable, I'll set-up a link to the old PDF file. If we have the same amount of interest as we did at the last one, we may have to split into 3 groups, and have 3 different routes.
Friday night camping is setup for those wanting to do it. Badin Lake Group Campsite A.
Saturday morn. meet at the Outpost at 8 for safety inspection and group selection, and we'll head out at 9. We had a lot of people just do a day trip, but I encourage everyone to stay the night for some good comraderie and cold ones...
Food ideas? Pot-Luck? Mexican?
PM me if you have any questions.
