Information page has been updated with arrivals and total number of people (23) attending for pot-luck purposes.
Ramon, I createdd a google account, but deleted the email invite before I could log in.. or has it been put on ONSC.com?

Don't know if anyone is updating the google doc for the trip menu, but I finally was able to open it by truncating the link after the key=XXX...
Of course, I already had a Google account. Don't know if it will work without that.
Update: you can view the spreadsheet without logging in by using the truncated link.

Clint can you post it up here so everyone can see it. I seem to only be able to get into it every other turn.

Hey All
Depending on how you are planning on making it to Linville Falls - part of the Blue Ridge Pkwy is closed between Deergap (hwy 421 before boone) & Blowing Rock (hwy 321).
Website claims it opens late Summer early Fall - so doubt it's open
Road Closure
Basically you can take 421 to Boone turn left on 321 to Blowing Rock and get on there. Small detour - and I'm sure there are signs - but just a heads up.

I didn't know that section of the parkway was still closed. I'll check the maps.
FWIW, I updated the Saturday night menu...

Nope, plenty of room. We actually have one campsite open on Friday and Saturday if one truck of people wants to go. Oh and thanks for bringing beer for everyone per the Google Docs list, you're a great member!
Need some more people to post up what food they're going to bring. Even if it's some baked beans, chips, whatever...
Do I need to address any other issues?
We'll bring the big coffee pot if we have a bunch of coffee drinkers...

Nothing terribly important, seems like you took care of the bulk of it. Do you want to try printing some maps? I will take a look at the topos I have of the area(s) and see what I can bring. Plus, one other question that Jason brought up and I didn't originally think would be an issue is dogs. We should double check what the rules are on the hiking trails. It may be an issue with bringing the dogs on any National Park (Blue Ridge?) hiking trails (falls, etc.?). Not a deal breaker, just something to keep in mind. Don't think dogs are a problem in the National Forest. Finally, can anyone bring fire wood, or do we want to just purchase some near the campsite?

On a positive note, if dogs aren't allowed, it will in the low 70's so leaving them in the vehicle for a extended, but reasonable, amount of time should not be an issue.

Dogs are fine on a 6' leash in the national forests and parks. They are forbidden from wilderness areas.

New guy here will be driving up sat by lunch, will only be bringing one of my kids as others and wife already have plans.
I do not have a CB (going to try one last shop tomorrow, looking for a good handheld) but was told someone may have a handheld I can borrow if I can't find one in time.
As far the cookout sat night I have no idea what to bring, I assume the list is updated, if anyone has a suggestion send me a pm, main course, appetizers, booze, etc.
Thanks and look forward to meeting ya this weekend
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
Take a look at the dinner sheet by clicking the google link in post #72. We are probably in good shape for main courses (unless you don't care for what is on the list), if you want to bring side items, desert, drinks, etc. that would be great. If you can't edit the sheet, you can send me a PM and I can do it for you.
Just in case, you can also send me a PM and we can swap mobile numbers just in case we're not in camp when you make it in Saturday.

I will try and make it up friday night late. wife has to work till 5 in Asheville. Do i need to get a camp spot or is there room for us for friday night? I will have to leave saturday afternoon as wife is flying out sunday late.
I am bringing Shackles for addicted 56 and picking up some skids from another member. I still have lift tires and 3FE tune up parts if anyone needs anything else.

You just took the last spot, and we are now full up. Anyone deciding they're going to go will have to reserve an extra spot. PM for info if you need it.

We had a great victory in our Indoor soccer game last night - Greg had a goal & assist and I scored 2 goals - a nice ending to a fun season.
Unfortunately, Janet hurt her knee in the last two minutes (the same knee she's torn her ACL twice amongst other surgeries). It was feeling a bit better this morning, but she's going to try and get an MRI soon to check it out...depending on the result, hiking may not be in her best interest...
That being said, we're still on for the trip now, but might be a game-time decision later this week.

You'd still have fun hanging out, it may turn out some want to hike down to the falls and some may not. The night time event is right outside the car on an overlook, from what I have read, so no hiking invloved... But then again, going into Blowing Rock for shopping could be a side trip...

Anyone driving up 321 from 40 be sure to fuel up in Granite Falls, after you cross the Catawba River on 321, leaving Hickory, going into Caldwell Co, there is a walmart on your right, with a Murphy Express in front, a few miles north is a Hess, today both were $2.09 low grade, cheapest you'll find till back off the mtn.
