I don't guess this will matter at that hour, but that puts us using Bus70 instead of the new bypass.
 R
Wait a sec, why are we going that way anyway? Swan Quarter ferry is out 264, not 70. This is WAY out of the way for most everyone. Need to rethink, I think

Nope you're right Ramon, I wasn't thinking when Greg posted up. yes, we'll be taking 264, I'm not too familiar with what's off the road there in Wendell/Knightdale area ... let's keep the time, but change venue!

As painful as meeting at 5am sounds, it looks like a good plan.

Yeah, I kind of figured some of our access points might change. South of Ramp 44 was already closed, if I remember correctly, I just don't remember how close. What did change is that we will not be able to drive from the Ocracoke Campground to southermost point of the island as they have now closed a small section in the middle of that run. That's why I will probably adjust our itinerary Tuesday night as far as beach driving and ramps.
I'll send it out to those that are meeting up, but have current ones Thursday morning. Everything else should stay the same...
The link from the NPS page to the Google Earth interactive map is a wonderful tool!
Oh and we need to schedule a day to come get those kayaks from you. I'm out of town starting in a few hours until Sunday. But I have Wednesday off to pack and fine tuning the cruiser..

Brian, do we need to make any individual reservations for anything?
Also I can get 2 of Jerry's kayaks Sunday if needed.

Can someone let me know the meals from friday to sunday that we are responsible for. I think we are having a group dinner one night?? Are we going to be at resteraunts for others??
Just trying to figure out how much food to bring with me

Thur - dinner at Howard's Pub
Fri - group meal, shrimp boil/local seafood
Sat - catered BBQ Sooey's
So, you will be responsible for:
Thur - lunch on ferry
Fri - breakfast and lunch
Sat - breakfast and lunch
Sun - breakfast and lunch
Hope this helps...

Oh yeah. Food/ice/beverages are not a problem. It takes a little planning but it would be hard to starve to death out there...

Al, yeah we'll have easy access to stores, markets, etc. It's an inhabited area and along Rt 12 on the OBX we'll have access to pretty much whatever you need.

Sorry, just got back from my kayak race, no I didn't win, but that would be fine. I'll be carrying my 3 and have room for potentially 3-5 more... Just let me know, Jerry and Joe for that matter.

Brian, sorry to hear that you didn't win...most anytime you have to come by with your trailer, I'll be glad to hand 4 over to you.
If I'm not home, the wife and kids will certainly help you get them out and on the trailer...

Mosquitos
Anyone know when the mosquitos start to show there ugly heads, the last time I was at the OBX was in August a few years ago and they were thick. I dont think they get bad until about mid summer, I plan on sleeping in the 80 and Im wandering if I need to make some screens for the rear sliding windows. Were they bad this time last year?

Stephen, now granted we were in the OBX's a month earlier last year, it was not bad at all, actually left the tailgate open one night. However if you do create some sort of screen than let us see what you've come up with I know this was discussed several times but never made a reality...at least that I know of.

So I'm adding an additional member to the OBX trip this year. I hope he does well, we might have to work out a puppy sitting contract with someone who also wants to do some kayaking... Say Hello to Nalu... it's Hawaiian for "Waves"

Wish I was going on this trip with y'all. I need me some OBX fix. Maybe we can get UC to start coming to this event. Sure would be a lot of fun.

That is intent for this ride, we needed something to keep up with you guys with GSMTR! We need to iron out some details and logistics, but we hope to start inviting other clubs to this ride and get it sanctioned...

Just so you all realize from Cary it is a 3 hour and 27 minute drive, if we meet in Bailey's at the Hardees at five we have already cut an hour off the time meaning we would have about two hours and 30 so minutes putting us at swans quarter at 7:30am is that the plan still?
