Started work on the rear bumper and decided that i did want the original style ball hitch with mount. I wanted a receiver style where i can remove the assembly when not using. I also welded on some D-Ring anchors and welded shut all the misc. holes. Heres what I came up with....

this top I picked up is kinda weird. so i had to cut away all the way down passed the bolt holes so i could add a section from the wrecked panel to make it work with my style rear hatch. I cut out all the bad rusted areas and heres what i came up with...

heres the section from my wrecked top that im gonna use...

ended up getting it all ground down, forgot to take photo, but looks great!

Martin it appears that things are coming along nicely, let's us know if you ever could use a hand, we've done a HAMOM in High Point, and we have a large crowd in Charlotte that we need to get involved, I believe you are somewhat near the charlotte area so let us know.

Got alittle bit of work done this weekend. Had to go my sisters engagement party and my grand dads b-day, so the weekend didn't have much cruiser time involved. I mostly worked on the frame some more. I was able to box the rear in some more and add bracing. I also came close to finishing the hard top panel. Heading home Friday i picked up another set of leaf springs to replace my bent ones. So now i have 4 good spring packs to work with (thanks Spence!) Came home and had my package from Orangefj45 that had my front knuckle rebuild kit and new inner seals. I then took-off to the local junkyard who told me they had my bellhousing for the cummins/nv4500. heres what went down this weekend....

Looks good man. I'm trying to get a 40 to build.

If you ever need an extra set of hands shoot me a PM. State can be a little boring on Saturday afternoons with no football.

Took some time this weekend away from the frame and body and tried to finish up the engine. I got a large order in from my diesel buddy to finish buttoning this thing up. I changed the thermostat, tore down the oil-cooler and replaced gaskets, fabricated and mounted a new turbo oil drain pipe, mounted the flywheel housing, flywheel, clutch assembly, starter, alternator and new serpentine belt. With a little plumbing shes ready to fire up!

Martin,

Name your price for what it would take for you to come over and fab up a rear bumper/crossmember/gussets for my 40. I'm going to have to have some major work done, almost exactly like what you've done to yours. Only problem is, tub is still on mine...

That is a problem, I boxed the rear section of my frame once before(with the tub on) and it was a major pain. So hard to weld like that. As far as my help.....I would be glad to help if i can find the time away from my cruiser, haha. What im going to do next is completely box in these new boxed areas so i wont have the issue of mud or slag or anything else getting trapped in there.

Came home for "singles awareness weekend" and a big step. I was able to build a huge hoist that will assist in lifting the body on and off the frame through out my build numerous times. Got the body off the old frame and onto the new rolling chassis. Got some motor mounts but simply ran out of gas, weekend was long.
