Anyone near swansboro?

I found this fj80 in swansboro and want to buy it this week but I am in Charlotte and don't want to drive 5hrs to be dissapointed...

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...00&cardist=172

If anyone could go check it out and see if it has lockers, the condition of the seats, and check the undercarrage and see if there is any rust I would really appreciate it. This is going to be my new baby and my first TLC and I want it to be the right one for me, let me know if anyone can help or if you know anybody that could check it out... Thanks so much
-Blake

Any luck with this?

The seller ought to be able to take / send pics of the interior, undercarriage, locker dial, etc. At least give you enough additional information to decide whether to go see it or not.

Also, it's not quite 5 hours to Swansboro from CLT but still a haul if you have lots of unanswered questions. I'd grill the seller and then decide if the trip is worth it. Make a beach weekend out of it!!

Good luck.

He told me he wouldnt be able to send anymore pictures until next week sometime, I have drilled him with every question I could think of but he is a dealer and he couldnt spend all day on the phone.. I have to drive up through asheboro which is about an hour out of the way.. Im still trying to get enough time off to go down there...

PS. I was wondering, Is this a good price? Im sure i can get him to come down a little bit, but I dont want to over pay, i would actually rather do the opposite.

I would think you could find one closer to you, or closer to someone who could go check it out. Im kind of close to Swansboro, but still like 1.5 hours away, and I dont have any reason to go up that way anytime soon. I think you could find a better deal, but it depends on what your using it for. There was a 93 in Asheville with 180k miles for $4k looked decent. Id post up that your looking for an 80 and Im sure you'll get some replies.

It seems absurd but in this market (all markets are obviously different), those exact variables are tough to find. I look regularly and haven't ever seen that combination. Small towns will net lower prices.

Here is a 200 mile radius sample from autotrader:

Good luck. Patience is your friend.

Post something up on the main board under vehicles for sale / wanted section, give your location. You might have to travel a little, but at least someone on MUD will take pictures and can describe the vehicle in detail, etc...

Don't bother, I went up there today to take a look at it. The entire engine and tranny are covered in oil. The truck looks good, but it was clearly evident that the PO's did not keep up with the required PM. The seats are OK at best, and there are stains all over the interior. The dealer had to install a new radiator because it was running hot. Rinky dink podunk operation with no clue about cruisers trying to make a buck. The guy who did the swap didn't burp the system properly and there was no coolant in the overflow bottle at all. Oh yeah, the battery was dead when I tried to start it. The guy got rude when I told him it was worth about 6k tops due to the maintenance that was required. If I were you I would steer clear of this one. My .02 anyway.

Good luck with the cruiser search.
