| Best approach for selling an FJ60 I have a 1985 FJ60 that I am interested in selling. I don't have any experience selling used vehicles. It has 130K miles and really has not been modified much from the original factory product. I am looking for thoughts on the best approach for trying to sell myself. For example, are there other websites/forums that specialize in selling older Land Cruisers. Any feedback is appreciated. |

| What color is it? I really want a blue one. Wanna swap a slightly used 100? It is the only two wheel drive land cruiser in TN.

| This is the best place to get the best bang for your buck. 130K is low mileage too. What do you want for it? I have a 60...it may need a friend |

| Gofish,
This is an enthusiast website, and specifically this section is for Mississippi folks who are cruiser enthusiasts. In my experience the enthusiast market will be more discerning about your truck and will expect to pay less.
I'd answer your question this way. What do you want out of the sale?
Do you want top dollar?
Sell it as a collector car using hemmings, local advertisement or as a consignment at a dealer.
Do you want it to go to a good home, or to a cruiser enthusiast who will take care of it?
Sell it here on this this forum.
Do you want to see what it was built for?
Come to the next cruiser meeting and start wheeling that thing with the CottonLand crew.

| Thank you for the responses. I have found them beneficial.
I believe the truck is worth $4K. All is in good working condition and I spent approx. $2K on it this summer updating wires, hoses, belts, radiator, brake pads/shoes, power steering pump, smog pump, A/C - replaced compressor chassis, condenser, drier, and several other minor fixes. It needs some body work on the passenger side. It was side swiped while parked at a gas station back in August. I will post some pictures.
Thanks again for the feedback. |

| Post some pics and we will give some good honest opinions. I think a $4K FJ60 would have to be pretty top notch for the enthusiast market.

| If it runs good and you get the body work done it should bring $4k..... |

| I paid $4,400 and have spent another $1,500 in the last 6 months to address the items listed in one of the previous posts. It sounds like you might could find something less expensive to start out with, but I didn't have that luck in the places I was looking. |

They can be had cheaper, but a good maintenance background meant a lot to me.
130K miles is LOW for a 60. I like that. I would pay more for one with miles that low. Also, the stuff you have done is good stuff. Quote:
Originally Posted by MEMCruiser wngrog. as a potential 60 owner how much does it cost to buy a 60 like yours and fix it up like yours? | Right now, as it stands, I have $13,265.85 in mine.
The big items are:
OME Suspension
Tires (6)
Kaymar Rear Bumper
ARB Roof Rack
ARB Front bumper with winch
I have spent about $2000 on items such as a rebuilt carb, header, new exhaust and I have used all OEM parts on the motor.
Like I said, I could have started lower on the initial price but I have done well with the parts I have put on. I have gotten most of the big parts at cost or used. I think if you started with a $2500 truck you would be where I am now with the same parts if you purchased new.
Also money can be saved with a Hell Creek Suspension, cheaper tires, bumpers and racks.
My goal was to spend about $10,000 on it, but it got away from me.
Now the motor is starting to smoke on deceleration and I really would like to have some deeper gearing. If I rebuild the motor and do an H55 5 speed I then will be driving a $20,000 truck that I could sell for $10,000 on a good day. |

| Yeah, I think I will be better off getting a second Cruiser as a "backup" car and stop putting money into this one. |

I think the best money I could spend on this truck would be a 5.3/4L60 swap. It would satisfy the smoke and the
"no gears" problems and would make it a truck that could get 18-20 mph and drive cross country in comfort.
Also it would cost less than a 2F rebuild and H55 swap.
Gofish, this is a famous IH8MUD thread derail. Welcome to the group |

| Found an 88 62 on a used car lot today in memphis. Guy wants 7000. Body and inside clean. Not much rust. The springs look shot. I will post some pics to get you guys advice in a few days.
Grog, I love your cruiser. Maybe one day when I get done with my hundred.
