wfd175-

Official orders ("papers") for reporting to Scott AFB have been given to my wife with a transfer date of Dec 20th. I am the one looking for a job. I have a few irons in the fire for contracting jobs on SAFB, Amren (local electrical utility) does not have anything currently available, as electrical utility design is my career.

Gotca. I thought it was the other way around.

There are some other utilities besides Ameren in the area, subs for Ameren, and some municipalities own their own grid. I can't believe they don't have any openings available across the river.

I've only heard about linemen positions being available for apprentices on this side of the river. Just wait until the spring storm season. It was a little off this year. The infastructure is weak. They're finally buring utilities around here rather than having the trees take them out every storm. As you know it's expensive.

Once your here, you'll figure it out. It's probably hard to get a feel for things from far away. Make some contacts etc.. thing will come together. Ameren is always in the news asking for rate hikes, etc...to upgrade, repair, etc...

More info.

Looks like ASI is constructing the Taum Sauk reservoir in Reynolds County ans googling gave me a few other leads. Which municipalities are available?

Anyone have any feedback on the local Toyota dealerships in O'Fallon and St.Louis? I found Newbold, Ackerman and Weiss I would consider a sales or services specialist position- with this economy, and local economy, I am just trying to cover all my options.

I worked at Ackerman a long time ago. Its not in a very good neighborhood anymore. I don't know much about the other two. The biggest thing around here is that some of the dealers' service departments are unionized and some are not. I don't even know how to find out which are and which aren't.

Newbold advertises the service specialist and lube technician jobs as union, I am not sure of Weiss.

That's only about 15 miles from us. When you get settled in we will have to meet up for dinner at Dr. Jazz's there on St. Louis St. It's a nice little ice cream parlor/ dinner. Look forward to meeting you.
