Well hell, you're right down the street. Mark used to buy all of his Toyota parts from us. It's been kinda quiet down there lately. I kinda wondered what had been going on.

Mark has been winding down here for quite some time. He was pretty much doing maintenance on his regular customers vehicles. That is not the scenario any longer. Give me some contact info and I will give you some business.

Type in South Point Road /Washington on Mapquest then look for Stone Crest Subdivision. 1/2 mile south of 100 on South Point Road.

Hey Mitch, give us some details (and pics) of that '97. Collector's Edition? 40th Anniversary edition? Colors? Mods?
Oh yeah, pics are good too.

Hi everyone my name is Ryan Sieckmann I live in Columbia MO I have a fiance (Kristie) and my son (7 yo Jonathan) and hers (4 yo Aidan), as well as our cocker spaniel Sophie in the house, and we are planning (hoping) on having a girl to offset the 2 boys in the house. Ive been into cars since I was 9, mstly fast cars, muscle cars etc. 2 years ago my best friend bought a rusty (and I meen RUSTY) old 86 60 wagon for 500 bucks and we took it out a few times wheeling, he introduced me to Cruisers and ever since then ive wanted one. For a short period of time I satisfied my trail urge with a 95 Montero picked up for 700 bucks and I fabbed a snorkel/bull bar/high mount exhaust and cranked up the torsion bars (it already had 5 new 31" BFG A/T's) this vehicle came to an abrupt (see HORRIFYING) end-see sig. Originally I really wanted a 1st gen 4runner 22re 4x4 5 speed but with the baby planned I figured I should plan ahead and get a 3rd row. So began the search for my 80. After pouring over ebay, craigslist etc. I found 3 or 4 total within a 100 mile range, after looking at a couple and getting VERY dissapointed by the peices of **** people were trying to unload for 4500+ One of the mechanics at my shop told me about one for sale locally at a dealership that we use to do alot of work fr at my shop, so we brougt it to the shop looked it over and I bought it. 1994 FZJ80 white with leather 3rd row and a sun-roof bought it for 4200, so far ive changed out all 3 diff's fluid the trans fluid the oil, put the spare on the roof rack, and cleaned it out. Thats probably all ill do minus keeping a fire extinguisher on hand at all times (see my sig)
If anyone ever needs anything welded or any tube custom bent give me a holler I manage the Custom Complete Automotive in Columbia on Providence rd. (were near downtown-2 blocks from Broadway)

Oh man - almost worth the drive to Columbia just to fab up some stuff!
Looking forward to some pics and maybe meeting up on the trail sometime. Several of us will be down at Flat Nasty this coming Saturday (May 17th).

speaking of fabbing up stuff, I was originally planning on doing a custom fab snorkel intake, but couldnt convince myself to cut a hole in my pretty fender, if anyone else is willing to commit to having a fender cut open, id like to try an 80 snorkel, just need someone to bring the 3.5" hole saw and drill to put it on, and im planning on using 3" exhaust pipe, so if someone wants to cover the cost of the materials I can supply the labor/fabbing for free. BTW the cost of the exhaust pipe wouldnt be more than 20 bucks, but you would need to bring me some 3" OD rubber intake tube (round type) and whatever color paint you want it to be, ill take care of the rest....lemme know......im dying to see what it will look like.

NoMo,
I'll supply the lennox 3.5" hole saw and will happily drill anyone's hole. Let me rephrase that. If you are having commitment issue's, I'll tap that a$% for you.
My Lennox hole saw is for sale or loan/trade if anyone wants to not spend the bucks on purchasing a good one. I don't forsee needing it again. The lennox went through like butter. It's not big deal. Just wind her up and let it eat.
Do you have a brake also? I need to bend of some sheet for a rear bumper, and a few pieces of tube.

no no brake we mainly do custom exhaust stuff, and our bender is a standard bender not mandrel, no one local even has a mandrel bender, anyone in the STL area have one?.....anyway until I see what an 80 looks like with a custom snorkel like the one I envision my rf fender will remain cherry intact!

New guy introduction and a question...
{And it's surprisingly topical.}
Hello the list.
My name is Rock Harris and I am a Toyotaphile.
Last year my wife and I bought an FJ Cruiser. Apparently it was infected with something because I couldn't rest from that point forward until I got myself a 4Runner. Kept looking and finally settled down for a 1987 one (DLX, it seems) out of Tennessee. Pretty, clean, NO RUST.
I grew up in Southern CA, and in the early 80s when I was in high school Toyota trucks were EVERYWHERE. Especially that canonical truck: The white one with a 3" lift, 33" tires, an aftermarket roll cage with 2-4 lights mounted on it, glasspacks, and a sticker for In 'n Out Burger with the "B" and "r"' removed. So I'm in heaven with my 4Runner.
Well, now I'm trying to get it licensed in the great state of MO. It would've passed except it seems that when the exhaust system was replaced, someone misplaced the catalytic converter when installing everything.
So I need some exhaust work. Patrick, do you guys do that sort of stuff at Mark's? It'd be nice to have someone who loves Toyotas work on it. If not, can anybody recommend one? I don't know if the resonator needs to be moved or replaced because it's in the spot that the cat normally goes. If it was a bolt up thing, I'd be fine, but it's going to need to be cut and welded.
And now that it's in the system, I can't just go somewhere else and cheat on this inspection.... That'll teach me to go to a state facility.
You know, I looked underneath before buying, of course, but I'm no expert, and, more importantly, it never even registered that someone would remove a stinking catalytic converter on a truck meant for the open roads.
Pictures to follow. I still smile every time I come home and see it.

If you can make a trip to Columbia, we do that work in our shop (its actually our specialty) and id probably just remove the resonator and replace it with the cat, im pretty sure that your would be about $190 installed. and BTW I love my Cruiser too......did the white Toyota trucks out in Cali have the TO and TA stickers removed as well, I know they did in TX in the 80s.

Yeah, the "YO" thing was popular, too, but was not mandatory like the rest....
I swear, sometimes I thought it was a state law or something. But now I'm nostalgiac for it and will probably set one up one day....
Well, I got the work done this weekend. Exactly what you said. Cut and weld.
The more I drive that thing, the more I love it.

Thanks! yeah Washita is intense. Curious, how do you see I've been to Washita?
Thursday's are rough for me, maybe next time. I am planning on attending the TAC get together at Flat Nasty. Never been there, and heard enough to scare me!

Welcome Patrick!
There's a file size limit for attachements. The limits for bytes and dimensions are listed on the attachment window pop up. Everyone has the same limits for each individual attachment. Those who haven't donated for a star have a seperate limit on the sum of all the attachments they've posted. You can get around all the limits if you host your pictures somewhere else (any photo hosting site) and then use the "insert image" icon located at the top of the "advanced" post reply window. Let me know if you still have trouble.

Great, should be a great event. I'm looking forward to seeing more of the park as I have only been there once.
