WAGONRACKS.COM - 80 series and other toyota racks

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please visit our site at Home Page (currently under construction)

At this time I am able to design and build racks for the following vehicles:

- FJ Cruiser
- 100 Series Landcruiser
- FJ40 Landcruiser
- FJ60 Landcruiser
- 80 Series Landcruiser

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I made up this wagon rack for my 1996 FZJ80 and am very happy with the way it has come out. I think it is an innovative and unique storage solution for the 80 series and a good alternative to the wooden drawer systems that are currently on the market.

I wanted to post up some pics to show the rack and explain some of the benefits. I can do any custom touches you need or build one exactly the same as mine.

The whole rack is incredibly solid and well made. The box tube is 16 guage steel and the mesh is welded around the frame. I am 220 and my lab is 110 and we sat on it along with my little daughter with no flex whatsover. I was surprised though that the end unit was not too heavy, I installed it easily by myself. I have gusseted the corners and added cross braces to the frames, especially the base piece.

Weights:
Base Rack only = 60 pounds
Barrier only = 40 pounds
Base Rack and Barrier complete system = 95 pounds

The unit is designed to be used as a sleeping platform. The mesh has been welded to the edge of the box tube in order so that there is no major bump when laying on the floor. A small foam mattress is obviously reccomended. When the 2nd row seats lay flat there is just a slight angle (with your weight on it) and it is very comfortable.

*A - I will post pics later of the rack with the barrier removed and the seats down so you can see what it looks like with a mattress, etc.

The rear cargo barrier adds a major safety advantage when you are carrying a 110 pound lab and gear. The rear barrier is tied into the base of the rack as well as above on the forward stock threaded hole of the existing 3rd row seat handle locations. The rear barrier unbolts with 4 hand screws (all captive nuts) and can be pulled out quickly in minutes with NO TOOLS. See page 2 for pics of the SS and plastic knobs. The whole system is fairly easy to take out in under 30 minutes, which is nice if you use your 3rd row seats and want something that can easily and quickly be put in and out. The barrier only product will look exactly like the barrier in the pics below, but will have 2 square posts that tie into the forward stock dring holes instead of the base as in the pictures. The mesh on the barrier only product will not go completely to the floor as I felt this was redundant as the seats when they are up or laid flat act as a barrier themselves. The barrier only product should not interfere with the 3rd row seats whatsoever as it does not interfere with the stock 3rd row seat bracketry. I am not yet sure how the barrier only product will effect passenger comfort or leg room. If this is a concern please contact me and I can install the 3rd row seats and take some pics.

Also, the whole system is developed on the notion that the end user can customize what they bolt down to the mesh as they desire. I will be offering packs of 6 drings for sale that include the necessary hardware to bolt down whatever you wish. Because of the way the mesh is stamped, it can be sharp in places and it is reccomended that a blanket / dog bed or other is put down if you have children or a dog crawling on the rack. This has been a minor concern for me but I thought I would mention it for safety's sake as I have kids and I know how they can be! I expect that the powdercoating process will minimize this problem.

The drawers that slide under the bottom rack are standard under the bed units like the ones you can find easily at wallmart. This is nice as if they crack or break, well you just go buy another set for next to nothing at wally world.

The CO2 bottle holder is bolted to the mesh and can be put in place on the rack anywhere you want. This is a standard fire extinguisher bracket and can be purchased online for relatively cheap (50-60 bucks). One place to buy here:
Public Safety*Heavy-Duty Vehicle Brackets for Fire Extinguishers*-*$5 Flat Shipping Online
P# 20HB is for a 20 pound tank, P#15HB is for a 10 pound or 15 pound tank. Use code: CJ for a 5% discount.

I wanted something different than the wooden storage systems that are out there now for the 80 series and I think I hit the mark on this one. I wanted something that was not completely permanent and I could easily pull out if needed.

If you have the stock rear floor mat, it can easily be cut to fit like a glove (see pic).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

$$$ PRICING $$$

I will be offering 3 standard products.
- Wagonracks Base Rack (flat platform in the pics)
- Wagonracks Barrier (only the barrier pictured, ties into the floor as described above)
- Full Wagonracks Base and Barrier System (exactly as pictured)

WAGONRACKS BASE RACK: $437 Bare Steel
Powdercoating Option: $88
Pack of 4 Drings (includes all mounting hardware): $16
Shipping anywhere in the lower 48 USA: $190
(* see note on shipping multiples below)

WAGONRACKS BARRIER: $354 Bare Steel
Powdercoating Option: $75
Stainless Steel Knob Option: $67
Pack of 4 Drings (includes all mounting hardware): $16
Shipping anywhere in the lower 48 USA: $170
(*see note on shipping multiples below)

WAGONRACKS BASE RACK AND BARRIER FULL SYSTEM: $731
Powdercoating Option: $134
Stainless Steel Knob Option: $67
Pack of 4 Drings (includes all mounting hardware): $16
Shipping anywhere in the lower 48 USA: $190
(*see note on shipping multiples below)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I expect the fit and finish on the 3 above standard products to come out very nicely. The production units will have removable feet. This is necessary to be able to ship these products. The feet on the base and the upper tie in's on the barrier will be removable and be secured by stainless steel oval head allen wrench metric bolts. The barrier will attach with 4 knob screws. The black plastic knobs are standard and included in the price. I will be offering an upgrade to stainless steel full metal knobs (see pricing). Please scroll down to page 2 to see pics of the knobs.

The above products and pricing are standard and for the 80 series landcruiser wagons only , that being said I can build these custom for any local vehicles as I will have your car on hand to custom fit it. I do have access to the above list of vehicles as well. Posted pricing does not include any custom touches or for other vehicles. Please contact me for a quote for your specific vehicle.

Shipping: The box I am using is 8 inches wide. Therefore I can fit multiple racks into one box. The UPS calculators seems to be more interested in the large dimensions rather than the weight. For example I believe I can ship 3 barriers in one box and only have the cost increase minimally from the above shipping Prices. What this means is that if you can find a few local mudders, club members or friends to combine shipping with it will save you some money. Please contact me for a quote for multiple items in one box. If somebody in an area can gather enough orders into one freigh shipment I am open to accomodating that as well. If a customer wishes to arrange their own shipping I will accomodate your wishes as much as possible.

Leadtimes: Leadtimes are 2-3 weeks plus shipping. Add a week for powdercoating.

Ordering: Paypal to 73guppie@gmail.com, I will produce the racks in order of the payments I get via paypal.

Coating: I will have bare steel and powdercoating options. I will NOT have regular spray paint options.

Pricing Changes: I reserve to change the pricing as metal, ship and other costs may change. Once I receive and confirm an order then you pricing is of course set.

Local Customers / Free Install: I will install your rack for free if you are able to bring by your vehicle to my shop here in Carlsbad (San Diego County). The install includes cutting your mat to fit precisely, etc.

Contact: you can get ahold of me directly at: 73guppie@gmail.com

In Summary: I have been on this board for a long time. The people that know me know that I will not ship out an inferior product. I expect these racks to come out looking fantastic and I won't settle for anything less. My goal is to make you as stoked as possible about WAGONRACKS products and to tell your friends. I can't get you to do that with a POS product. I am available to speak with you and discuss your questions in order to make you as comfortable as possible with your purchase.

Thanks!

Noah

Now, enjoy the pics of beautiful San Diego!

This looks very cool! Nice design, I like how you can put tie downs how you like. Looks lower than the standard drawer set ups available now and so a fridge should fit even easier. I like the barrier too, looks very solid!

NICE!!!

I would be interested in finidng out the cost of the system, including shipping (to 84302).

It's a nice alternative to Milford which is nearly impossible to get now (Assuming it's as sturdy).

Great work, Noah!

I like that a lot. Would it be difficult for you to modify your design to provide the cargo barrier only, and not the platform? That's what I really want, but I don't want to pony up the absurd cash for a Milford.

Thanks.
