New 80 series steering wheels '94-'97
These are a work of art!
I contacted countless companies on having these done. One thing that no one would tell me is that they are for hot-rods, customs and seldom driven autos. When hand stitching is done the leather cannot drawn and stretched tight enough while gluing to hold up and not loosen up in a short time.
Done by steering wheel manufacture by the craziest machine ever. New injection molding over aluminum frame then leather is sewn end to end and then stretched and drawn to center and pinched and sewn. They are tight and feel O so nice! Manufactured with modern glues to properly hold leather taught and in place to prevent break down the mold and separation from the aluminum frame. Made by the same supplier of today high end car manufactures so the quality is there.

For the 100 series or the 80? For the 100 yes but they are not cheap. This will be a month or so out.

Maybe, I have 10-15 worn out ones coming and will see if I can get the cost down. They are not as easy as it looks and getting the blueish gray leather to match the steering wheel was not an easy task. But they are all dead on and I am excited.

Ok this may sound strange but what about doing the same thing to a 60 wheel? I hate the skinny wheel when my LX one feels oh so right.

It's already in thought process, but would only be a made to order as I am sure not to many people would want to pay the price. My 62 I had with leather was an amazing rig with leather and the wheel would just top it off.

LOL,
What could you possibly think up when it comes to the wheel?
Alcantara?
I am sure it will be two tone with blue stitching with Alcantara on the top or bottom?

Installed!
Just as with the AATLAS1X leather seats, these are top-notch. IMO the leather is definitely of better quality than OEM, as it is much more supple and feels like leather. After 13 years, the one in my truck felt like sticky rubber, and no matter what product I tried, it still looked and felt awful. I have three other vehicles of the same vintage (all German), and their leather is still perfect...go figure.
The color matches perfectly, and definitely makes her more of a treat to drive.
A few pics...
Installation was 30 minutes top...only took me a little longer, since I needed to get a wheel-puller for $10 at the local parts store. Otherwise, a very-easy install, disconnecting the battery, a few plastic panels to pop out, six T30 torx screws to remove, two electrical plugs and four phillips. One job.
Cheers, Steve
P.S. Shane count me in when the shifters start to come in! Considering doing them in Grey too?

Glad you are happy with it...
Would you / others really want a matching shifter?

Wow, that new wheel looks great Steve! Far better than what I've seen stock even on the newer 100 series.

Steve,
Did you use a Schucks tool when you removed the wheel? If so know what SST it was?
Old one on the way back?

Got mine! I can't say enough about the wheel. Can't wait to put it on and enjoy having my hands NOT stick to the wheel anymore... not to mention the rest of the new leather.
Was nice to meet you Shane, thanks for going out of your way to hook me up on my way back from Surf & Turf. Can't wait for that new leather smell in the truck.. but first I gota get all the sand out.
Sheldon
