Hawkdriver FJ40 Bumpers Now Available
Hey everyone,
I have been back for a few months now and have been hit up by a few of you for some of my custom bumpers. Things have slowed down enough here for me to do a few runs but I wanted to fill an order of at least 5 before I get started. I will be offering these exclusively on IH8MUD for the time being. Some of you might remember my design from 06 before I left, but for those of you who don't know me or my product let me give you a run down. Standard bumper: I only use 2"x4" 1/4" wall tubing for superior strength and durability. All caps and mounting points are 1/4" thick as well. They will mount to your existing holes and gussets so you don't have to deal with cutting those PITA rivets off. They will be made to your length requirements and can include a round tube bar for protection which can include light mount tabs as well. The ends can be tapered or shaped to your liking as shown. Warn 8274 winch bumper: This includes everything stated above. IMO this is the strongest option available for mounting the ultimate winch to the ultimate vehicle. The reason for this is that I completely box in and enclose the hollow tube where the winch mounts. The cable opening and bolt holes are reinforced and sealed which not only restores rigidity in the area but also strengthens it. You will never have to worry that it might bend under a heavy pull or that it has taken in water and is corroding from the inside. The winch will mount and have plenty of clearance for those of you with the Saginaw PS conversion as well. The original design had the 6" long "D" ring mounts welded through and drilled for attachment to the frame rails for security. I have found it to be triple redundancy and not necessary. We can discuss this as an option if you are concerned about it. All of the attachments however, will be welded through the bumper on both front and back sides, so these things aren't going anywhere. The mounts are constructed of 2" x 3/4" mild steel and drilled to accept 5/8" "D" rings. Finishing options: At this time I don't have the means to powdercoat these so if you plan to do that yourself I can leave it in the raw, unprimered state so that you can media blast and PC it yourself. Or I can sand blast and primer them for you to finish on your own. Again, it's up to you. Pricing: Standard bumper: $150.00 Winch mount bumper: $250.00 Sand blasting/priming: $20.00 Protection bar (1.5" round): $20.00 Light tabs /pair: $10.00 We can discuss optional features in PMs and go from there. Shipping: Shipping is surprisingly inexpensive on these. I'm in Central Texas so DHL ground is usually 3-5 days and $25 to $35 to either coast. Payment: The preferred method is Paypal, but I will accept money orders and bank transfers as well. Some of you have been asking about sliders and bumper/tire carriers as well. Depending on how these do, I plan to consider offering those up as well. If you are going to ask about those please PM me about it as they are not offered in this thread. Thank you. Guarantee/History: I have made a number of these things and I back up every thing I make for the life of the product. If there is an unacceptable flaw or fitment issue, or if any part of the unit fails I will either repair it, replace it, or refund it to your satisfaction. And it seems only right to cover shipping both ways, right?. I have been a supporter of IH8MUD since it stood up in 2002 and will not jeopordize my friends or reputation with sub par business dealings. There are a number of satisfied members of this forum who you could ask for a review from if you are interested. The price may seem steep but it reflects the care that is put into each product you receive. These are not made overseas and are individually handcrafted with care and precision. Thanks for looking, Jeremy __________________ 75 FJ40, it's like having a second job |

Great work
Jeremy,
I already PM'd you with my order. Just thought I would post up and say glad to have you back, thanks for your service and can't wait to see more of your great work. After you get my front bumper done we can talk about if you have any ideas on rear bumpers or roof racks. ![]() __________________ Just looking for a straight answer in a twisted world ![]() Build thread: http://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series...storation.html Member Mudders in Latin America |

I should note that I will only be able to do a few more runs of these over the next 5 weeks, then it's time to pack up again for the move to Alabama.
I do plan on setting up shop again once I get there but there's no telling what the availability of these will be. So if you're interested get your order in soon. ![]() __________________ 75 FJ40, it's like having a second job |

The bumper on my 45 has been noticed pretty much wherever I take it. I get asked about it a lot. Hope those same folks find this thread cause I don't remember who they were now.
![]() In any event, another satisfied customer here fo sho. I've got two rigs in the shop RIGHT NOW that BOTH need front bumpers. PM me a shipped price when you've got a minute. ![]() __________________ A carbureted man in a fuel injected world. 65SWB45, 64LWB45, 68FJ40, 76HJ45,84FJ60, 76K5, 73Sub454, 89Sub7.4[gone], 97Sub5.7 TLCA delegate, Trail Crew-LAC TLCA, The White Trash of the Elwood Chapter my website: http://www.marksoffroad.net |

Moomtaz, for your XD9000 you'll need to get a winch plate and mount your winch on that which will sit behind and above (independent) of your custom bumper. I have sold a few to folks who have gone this route.
Here's a picture. I might suggest a winch plate such as this. __________________ 75 FJ40, it's like having a second job |

Thanks man.
Completed 2 runs of these in the past few weeks totaling 10 fronts, 1 rear tire carrier, and a couple of odds and ends. Thanks to all who gave me the opportunity to put my work on their rig, it is quite an honor. Don't forget to post a pic if you get a chance. ![]() I am winding down here now and finishing up my last order this week. I look forward to setting up again in the future and offering you guys some more custom built products, so keep an eye out . Until then, keep on wheelin and I'll see you guys in the 40 section!![]() Couple pics of the work over the last few weeks. __________________ 75 FJ40, it's like having a second job |

Going on 2 years ago now Herky ordered a front bumper for his 40 and asked if I could work a rear carrier in for him sometime down the road. The man was patient because it took just about 2 years before I could set up and build again due to the deployment. I hadn't planned on doing any but having agreed to it so long ago I went ahead and worked on this piece for him. It took me around 25 hours to complete it but I think it's a pretty darn sturdy unit. In the future I plan on offering a few additions that will take it up a few notches.
Like I said, if you are in the market for some of these parts keep an eye out and hopefully we can work it out down the road. __________________ 75 FJ40, it's like having a second job |

$645 as pictured.
Full options will include the 1" weld thru shackle mounts (as seen here), tail light guards, integrated 2" receiver which includes tube work and mounts below main tube, Hi-Lift jack mount on swing arm, and cooler basket. This picture shows the receiver and jack mounts. __________________ 75 FJ40, it's like having a second job |

The key feature with that carrier is that when the removable cooler basket is not installed it allows access to the RH amby door with the arm closed. Not a big deal for those without kids but it can be a nice thing for those who access that door a lot.

I can change the location of the tire mount for whatever size you want. I built mine to accomodate a 37".
The pricing will be as follows: Bumper with swing arm including 2000 lb Destaco compression latch, open/close spring pin, and HD 1.5" solid steel, rebuildable oil impregnated bronze bushing spindle: $615 Detachable cooler basket: $100 2" Receiver hitch w/tubework: $75 Tail light guards: $40 1" Weld thru shackle mounts: $35 Hi-Lift jack mount: $25 Total: $890 Or somewhere thereabouts, depending on rising costs of materials when I get setup again. In case you didn't see where I mentioned above, I am finished building again for now. I will be setup again in Alabama in August and plan on taking orders then. If you would like to reserve your place on the production line I will work with you, but things are up in the air for now. Did I mention that I'm in the Army and things rarely seem to go as planned, lol. Anyway, thanks for the interest. Jeremy __________________ 75 FJ40, it's like having a second job |

Just a few more pics of some of the completed units. They look much better in the right light.
![]() This one was the longest one yet. 54 inches and included the light tabs and brush bar. I really like the length on this one. I might consider replacing my front end now. ![]() __________________ 75 FJ40, it's like having a second job |
