Long Duck Dong - Subwoofer Upgrade LIMITED TIME!!

Hello Everyone...

Its been a longtime since I have posted on the board but I havent been far away. As most of you know by now I sold my audio store in March of 2007.

I have gotten ALLOT of emails from people inquiring about my custom subwoofer enclosures that I made specifically for the 80. Some of you ordered them from the people who bought my audio store and they didnt build them quite the way I did, and I heard about that too and apologize about that....

Because it seems these custom subwoofer enclosures are in demand with this forum I will continue to produce them for this board, but I will only build them in set amounts.....sort of like group buy's....

If the board can round up and order of 5 enclosures at a time I will build them 5 at a time..... The cost's and add on's are as follows...

10" Enclosure - Enclosure alone, by it self $125.00
10" Enclosure w/ Exile XT10 10" subwoofer $250.00

12" Enclosure - Enclosure Alone, by itself $125.00
12" Enclosure w/Exile XT12 12" Subwoofer $285.00

I still have my account with Exile so if your interested in the Exile Sub Amp you can order that too.....

I'm trying to gauge whether I should continue with this or not, and it will depend on the interest of the board to see if there is enough orders that can be placed. If you own a shop and would like to order these to have on hand I will give you a nice price break if you order quantity....

If you need to reach me please email me at steve@extremeremarketing.com

The Original Thread for your reading pleasure....

Hey Long,

Is the 12" enclosure the same size as the 10"?

What is the minimum amount of power you suggest running the 12" with?

No, the 12" enclosure is bigger....it's little taller....as far as powering the sub, I personally like to over power my subs...

Any sub woofer will perform better with more rated power than the sub can handle....for instance...

a sub rated at 200w rms and 350 Peak, I would run an amp with a minimum of 500w continuious and like 800w peak....Even though you dont deliver 500W to the sub it will drive the sub to perform at it's best without over powering the sub handling capability.

In all of the XT10's I built and sold we used the Exile X600.1 Amplifier for testing and allot of people bought the X600.1 to power their XT10....It's a GREAT combo, and the X600.1 works just as well on the XT12....

Minimum....600w of good clean power, not a 600w cheap o amp....

I may be interested . . . how much for the sub amp, too?

I still have the factory headunit, have replaced front and rear door speakers with Sony Xplod speakers plugged into factory wiring. Haven't touched anything else.

What would I have to do to make that setup work well with the 10" sub and box?

I would buy a 12" Sub and Enclosure if we can get some interest!!! NOTHING like non-visible, great sounding subwoofers leaving me FULL USE of my cargo space. Plus, if no one knows it's there, you can't exactly be robbed of it, can you?

Come on guys, I've got no bass in my 80.

Sign me up on the 12 list...
James.

Since you weren't selling them I have been thinking about coping your design for a while. I would buy a 10 inch box at least.

LDD,

I am interested in the 10" sub and box and the sub amp if it will work with the factory headunit. Will it?

What's the price on the sub amp?

Thanks!

I'll change my order to the 10" sub + enclosure just to get in with the current group seeing as that setup is in higher demand....

Steve,
let us know how to arrange payment and provide you with addresses and all that.

Thank Adam

Thanks for everyone's patience....

Guys this is the busiest time of the year for my other business (I'm a car wholesaler) and I have been extremely swampped and havent had time to even get my x-mas shopping started.... It will only get busier for me after the New Year and wont back off until April.....

Adam and I have spoke today and he is willing to help organize the folks who are serious buyers of the setup. The enclosures take roughly 3 hours each to build, if I build them 5 at a time it makes things ALLOT easier and less time consuming....I can build 5 in 3 hours or 1 in 3 hours, I would rather build 5.

Here is some additional information if your thinking of buying the set up...

It is avaliable in a 10" and 12" version, my opinion is the 10" is the better sounding of the two. The 12" will play a little lower frequency's than the 10" but is less effiencent than the 10". Remember guys, this was'nt designed to rattle your teeth out.... My personal reccomendation is go with the 10" w/Gen 2 box.

The Exile 600.1 Amplifier is the recommended amplifier for this application. The amplifier is an additional $350.00

Shipping is a FLAT RATE of $25.00 anywhere in the 48 States for UPS Ground, Hawaii, Canada, and so on are additional based on your location.

Once Adam has organized at least 5 serious buyers he will contact me and forward me your information. I will call you and confirm your order, you send in payment and when everyones payment is collected I build them all one day, ship them out the next day.....

I will continue building them and supplying them in sets of 5 or more until there is no more demand for them....I surprised that places like Slee and other LC/LX retailers have not ordered them in quantity, I mean I would give a "vendor" price to someone who wishes to stock and sell them...

Thanks for your understanding guys, I wish you and your respective family's a wonderful and loving holiday season and a great New Year!

Thanks, Adam! And thanks, LDD!

Is there any way to get an answer to my original question concerning how this sub and amp setup will work with a factory headunit?

Thanks!

I'm not ready now, but I hope there is enough interest to keep production for future purchase.

The subwoofer upgrade works fine on an aftermarket head unit or the factory head unit, either way.

It is reccomended that you change the factory head unit but not required. If you intend on using the factory head unit to run the subwoofer system I would HIGHLY reccomend have it professionally installed by your local independent car audio store as there is a little more to it's installation process.

I do reccomend that all of you have them professionally installed at your local independent car audio store. I'm not a big supporter of the "Big Box" audio stores like Best Buy and such. Please support your local independent car audio store and have them install these for you......

Merry Christmas,
The Donger

Thanks for the response! I am definitely interested, but I have to put this on hold for now since I'll be dumping the funds into some other vehicle repairs that just cropped up.

I, too, hope there is another round of these offered in the not too distant future.

Merry Christmas!
