I would be interested as well, are there any other subs that will work? I know that these Exile subs are very thin mount. I have a JL 12w3 sitting here and 2 older Orion Cobalts (b/f they started selling them at the big chain stores). But I know they are deeper than 3.5". If I need to sell them off I can, its not a problem.

Also as far as amps. I have an Orion 225 HCCA and a Kicker 240z. Starting from scratch with my 80 and want a good sounding system not something that will boom you out. I have thankfully outgrown that stage of life. (My hearing still wishes I woudl have learned earlier!)

The box was kind of built around the exile sub, because it is so thin. That way, you can install it, then put the quarter panel plastic back on and not have to worry about it being in the way or getting stolen or squished. We're still waiting for a 5th person to commit, then I will let steve know and we can place the order. That's all that we are really waiting on.

Waiting on the 10" box only or can we mix and match? I will have to wait a little while as $ is tight right now. I did a little research and it looks like a few other subs will work, but none of the ones I have. I will have to see if I can sell a few things.

We're waiting on five people to commit to buying the 10" boxes only, and those who want the sub/sub and amp can do so as they please.

Steve said that he is ready to start making the boxes! If you are ready to pay, pm me and I will send you his paypal address. Keep in mind, though, that he said that he will only start making the boxes once he gets five payments. I'll start pm'ing if I don't hear from enought people in the next day or two.

I have one of the original 10" boxes that Steve built in Nov. 2006. I finally got around to installing it this year just in time for the drive out to Moab 2008 from the San Francisco Bay area. It doesn't fit. I contacted Steve directly and he had a lot of suggestions to help me make it work, but I am still unable to get the panel back on completely. It works and I am absolutely happy with the sound, but I would like to get in contact with Steve again to see if I can get this resolved.

If you have it, would you please PM me his contact info? Thank you!

Good to see there is still interest in the enclosure and it seems that we are at or closing in on the 5th....Let me update and say a few things for everyone regarding this...As some of you know I sold my audio store in March of 07, the new owners have no clue to building this enclosure correctly. They also do not have a 80 Series truck to fit them in.... My suggestion is not to contact them about it...

I have moved on to dedicating my time to my wholesale car business which is very busy with heavy phone calls, which is why I dont have allot of time to chit chat with my fellow MUD members about the enclosure.

If you have questions your best bet is to email me at steve@extremeremarketing.com which other MUD members have found you get a very quick response, assuming I'm in the office. If you have questions please include your phone number in the email and I will call you if time allows, if not I will answer by email.

I will continue to build them as long as you all want them but I would rather build them 5 at a time because it is much easier to build them several at a time. What I'm trying to do is organize all 5 of the orders so I can build them on the Saturday following the reciept of the lat paypal payment.

P.S. I did buy another 97 LX450 IDENTICAL to the one I sold to another MUD member, man I miss that LX...

Eric, thanks for keeping me in the loop of things... Jerald I sent you an email regarding your misfitting enclosure. Send it back to me, I will test fit in my truck again and trim if needed or build you a new enclosure when I build the rest of these....

Any updates?

Did enough people sent their payments to start the build?

I don't think just yet. I'm sending in my payment within the next week, and we'll have to start pm'ing to make sure that those people who committed know that Steve is now taking payments.

I just sent my payment in. Can't wait to get it. We only need one more person to send in a payment and we are all set. I'm going to bump the thread in the actual 80 section right now and see if we can't stir up some interest.

I think that by reading this, LDD was going to make them this past weekend if he got the 5th order, or perhaps make them this coming weekend. I am hoping for an update soon as well.

Sorry for the lack of update, I have had a sort of busy last 2 weeks....which is quite unusual for the time of year...not that I'm complaining....

I'm doing the build THIS WEEKEND.... 9/6/08....

You guys have been VERY patient and since I know what effort you guys put into getting this build together I have decided to go the extra mile for all of you who waited.....

I'm going to do a Gen III build, increasing the size of the enclosure yet again to get a little lower frequency response.... I took my LX450 apart and cut all new templates and the Gen III enclosure and the fitment will be much better into the rear quater panel.

My plan is do build the Gen III Friday night, test Saturday.... build the remaining enclosures on Saturday and ship Monday.... I'm going to build quite a few additional enclosures this time around so if we have any single orders we can fill them immediately....

As always I will take pics of the build in progess and post them on the board....I have finally gotten comfortable with my office staff so I will be spending more time on the board again helping you guys out with your audio needs...

Thanks,
Steve Thomas

Just to verify, will the generation III box fit in my 1994 FZJ80? I don't have an LX450, so I'm hoping the gen 3 box and sub will fit in my 1994 FZJ80 properly.

Thanks,
Jamie

I believe we did get a 5th. LDD was supposed to make these last weekend according to one of his above posts. Just waiting on LDD to either post that he shipped these or someone that ordered one gets it. I think he said he was going to make a couple extra boxes.
