BJ FJ40 Heater Restoration and service Kits 1974-84

This kit will cure your heater issues RHD or LHD
  1. Poor circulation of air due to deteriorated foam that has filled the heater core not allowing air to pass through and thermal transfer.
  2. Actuator doors do not have the three correct positions due to lower spring failure due to rust weakening the spring. 76-84 models
  3. Actuator door bushings are worn out.
  4. Foam from heater box and duct has decayed away causing loss of air flow.
Your core most likely is good, just needs to be cleaned, I mean the outside and in.

Once removed.
  1. Strip all the foam from the four sides
  2. Soak in water/CLR mix for a few hours inside and out.
  3. With HP nozzle spray out all the dust, hair and foam from bottom till clean and you can see through it.
  4. With garden hose throughly flush the inside and dry.
You will have heat like you always wanted but never thought you could.

Auto Zone will order you a core through Ready Aire P/N 399306 if you need one at $69 +/-

You will however need to purchase a 3M or similar adhesive for gluing the foam to the core and doors.

See the thread heater rebuild for dummies here Heater Restoration for Dummies - IH8MUD.com Forum for tips and please post yours up as well.

Here are some finished pics http://www.fototime.com/users/tacticalrifles@aol.com/74-1984%20FJ40%20Front%20Heaters

Please go to my eBay store and offer Mud price of $32.00 and it is yours. It will also come with a new lower spring. (see my sig line below)

No it is a wild wolf hybrid that has adopted my friend and his retriever deep in the Molalla hills, they used to have some crack heads that had several of the dogs and three of the puppies grew wild, this is one I enjoy watching.

That pic she is walking over a small creek bridge calling her pups to water, yes the retriever knocked her up....We put her out and had all of her shots and also fixed her.

She is amazing to watch....To this day I have never touched her but she is very trusting and protective of the property.

Cool! Hard to tell in the small photo. I used to own an Irish Wolfhound and we're thinking of listing ourselves with the IW Rescue in later this year!

cant seem to figure out how to PM you after this update? Anyway, I have a request for you seem like you can do it if anyone. I have 2 small aluminum VIN tags in my engine compartment against the firewall and wondering if it is feasible to duplicate them with my numbers and info? Not sure if it is feasible since each one made would be custom to that particular vehicle but would be nice on resto's?
