100% use the OEM toyota parts. Get the head gasket kit. They're still available and the best bet for long-term reliability.
Yotaparts sells a full small-hose kit for around $200 it's EVERY small hose, some are no longer available from the...
Welcome aboard, WireNut! Show us some pictures of that 40... Seems like we've had quite a few join in he past year or so. Not enough to offset the 80 representation, but so many of these are still on the roads,
Please welcome Douglas (@Wire Nut) to CopperStateCruisers.
Douglas has a 1974 FJ40 and resides in Maricopa; Please tell us more about yourself and your Landcruiser.
Not quite. There was a change in mid 86. The earlier dash has a dash cap that has a tray that goes full length. The later dash has a shorter tray in the dash pad. The profiles are different, you can't mix the dash pads and gauge surround.
I feel your pain with not being able to find new parts for these older rigs. Even used parts are definitely getting a lot harder to find and that is why I’ve spent the majority of the time I’ve owned my truck looking for spare parts. There aren’t...

Worked great. Put it all together and bolted it back on the frame.
Some grade 8.8 metric hardware and it's good to go. Glad to have something specific I can point to as a "completed" sub-project on the white board. Gives me some motivation!
Got the arm back together. Cleaned up all the surface rust, figured out how to put it back together, etc.
Rather than pay hundreds of dollars for a few parts I decided to reuse everything other than the felt and the cotter pins.
The felt...

Ha, the shifter on mine is sooo loose. Took me a bit to figure out all the gears. This thing needs to go asap if I'm gonna take it anywhere but the...
Went to lunch with a bunch of friends last Friday, and one showed up with this. It's a 1998 Toyota Century, J-spec (*as it was never imported here), RHD, lace curtains and wool seats, with the only V12 Toyota ever built.
And yes, that's a Rolls...
