Thanks for the honest review! I’m honestly stunned that it hasn’t sold. You can’t gather up all of this for anywhere near the price. Plus it took ages of time & effort to get them all. A lot of value & effort savings in this package.
The whole thing should just pop out easily now. Don’t lose the little plastic “seat” for it, but other than that I’d say try to give it a good yank. Seems like it must just be siezed up in there.
I met up @gr8ful and took his 73 for a drive. Abe was extremely personable, knowledgable and passionate about Land Cruisers! The 73 itself was exactly as it appears and drove well. 2H, 4H, 4L - all shifted nicely and performed as expected...
Ah! That does make it easy. I like the alpine double din stereos too! Probably a stupid question but do you happen to know if anyone sells a super easy, automatic on/off voltage adapter type thing? Basically something for the electrically...
Finally an update…nothing too hard or fancy
Got the needed parts from @Zee and @FJ73Texas.
For the lights I just tied into the cigarette lighter like @FJ73Texas. Don’t worry, no scotch locks were used in the modding of this cruiser.
Thanks all! I’m currently running 235/85r16’s which are fine. But thinking of running stock 40 series rims with hub caps. I like the tall, skinny pizza-cutter look so was thinking 33x10.5.
Thanks!
That is exactly what I run in Boulder, CO! (3bii included). In short, no issues. I drive an '89 BJ73. I've run this tire size since I bought the truck though, so I have nothing to compare to.
The difference between the 33's and the OEM spec'd...
Should be just fine. For a short while I had a BJ73 with 33x12.5x15 tires and it wasn’t as sluggish as I was expecting. I’m only at 3500’ though, so not too much power loss from altitude.
Hey Abe!
You will be fine…should just be slower, than you already were. It shouldn’t be a huge difference as some factory tire sizes for a bj73 were 7.5x16x6prlt which works out to 31.8” x 8.7” x 16”.
also depending on the brand, actual...
Hey all,
Does anyone have any insights on a 3bii (1990 bj73) having enough power to push 33x10.5x15 tires? I’m at altitude, and I know that it won’t help. But is that too big of a tire in general, for the power of a 3bii? Or could I run it...
