Yeap gunked up stuck mostly open apparently. I thought i had checked it at some point but apparently not....removing it from the equation solved everything thing.

I've had an SOR Standard Summer top for over 15 years that came on one of my 40's and it just gave up this past summer. Replaced it with the same from SOR. Very pleased with the quality.
