Took a little break from the 55 I did start getting the driveshafts checked and cleaned also the battery tray. I pulled the 1981 HJ47 over by the shop just because I wanted to work on something different. What a Blast this thing is. Did some work...
No leaks in the radiator! It must have been a loose hose clamp. I bought upper and lower hoses as they were looking tired. The tap for the starter came today. Now I just need to find a few hours to piece it back together. :)
1/4" is not enough clearance, and I don't think there is any material that will be effective, that will be able to fit inside that gap.
Here's a tip that I've used before in situations like this: Exhaust pipes do not need to be round ;)
Said screw it, pulled it out. Wife cranked it a few times while I manually choked it. Then it fired right up, purrs like a kitten and no smoke! It’s smoother than any cruiser I can recall having.
Would have loved to drive it around some but not...
Whichever one is weaker, which is why I rebuild both at the same time. Bench bleed the master, easier than the brake master. Does the fluid level in the reservoir go up as you bush the pedal? (= bad master seals).
You don't need a clutch to drive...
At 290K I'd be thinking about an engine rebuild, but that's just me. I'd certainly do a valve job. Your machine shop can "skim" the bottom of the head, just to take off the high spots. Also true your manifold surface. Take in your manifolds and...
I ran a Landcruiser '69 type vac advance with a Pertronix for many years and loved it. Switched to a Landcruiser 60 series big-cap and love it even more. Never tried a DUI.
Yup and prolly close to same lb's, somewhere between 4300 & 4700 lbs for the 40 I'm guessing.
I got 80 lbs of crap in the roof bag for Rubithon so we'll see if it makes her tippy too much. Tested on Memorial day and it worked well, I dont think...
Just replaced it. Got it together and running, still fiddling with tappet lash with the RV cam.
That crack did go through. Sometimes things just get old and I break them...
I have new favorite 40 mod, 4 link & coilovers, if I could afford sway bars I would do the front to but for now the front leafs keep the sway managable.
Well the engine refresh is finally done. After a few test drives, I can confirm that the backfiring is gone and the engine is running as smoothly as a 50 year-old 2F has any right to. It cost twice as much and took about four times as long as I'd...
If the engine is producing crankcase vapor faster than the PCV system can handle it, it will push the excess up through the valve cover to the air cleaner, which is how it ends up in the carburetor.
So, you should be seeing oil in the air...
