I felt the need to add an extra 0.8” rubber spacer to my rear timbren bumpstops which already had a 1” hockey puck spacer to better protect the compression of my LT Icon 56550 rear shocks. These shocks have a compressed length of 17” which is...

Yeah, luckily I finished 98% of my build before tariffs and high inflation. Now I just got to watch out for repairs and maintenance!

I stuck with new Toyota oem rubber lines all around. Only exception are the rear extended ss center brake lines for my long travel. Other than that…all my brake lines and hard lines were replaced with new Toyota oem rubber and hard lines. I...

i was talking to AI about the benefits of the GX460 front calipers and rotors in a GX470 and I saved the interaction. Fortunately for me, I used Toyota/lexus oem calipers and rotors. It has been working well for me. Enjoy the read if you care...

It seems to depend on the dealer. A lot of the dealers around here have been bought up by big interstate conglomerates. Once the dealers lose local ownership, business practices can quickly to go downhill. The few local/independently-own dealers...

It seems like the service technicians are nothing more than salespeople taking advantage of the situation for a commission. And that’s why a dealer maintained used GX470 could be a great purchase! A lot of replaced parts and unnecessary...

Back in early 2017 when I first bought my 2003 GX470, I went to the Lexus dealer to get an oil change and request a free replacement dashboard. The Lexus service tech said he would do a 40 point inspection for free. Well, the oil change back...

Clever idea to weld bracket mount points to the frame to hold the front sway bar. I rock crawl so not sure how confident I would be with the front sway bar still lurking at the cv axle boots!

I don’t know what material is the front sway bar, but there’s another way to skin the cat. Search Nolathane HD rear sway bar. I have it and it fixed 80% of the front swaying with the front sway bar removed. Counter intuitive, but it worked for me.

I can see how properly torqued cam bolts will hold up offroad. I didn’t know this before and I didn’t check the torque done by my alignment shop prior to the taco tab installation. I just know that I got misaligned way too quickly when hitting...

I have wheeled my rig extensively and have never bent a cam tab or had the alignment slip. That being said, I can see how it's possible, but checking LCA bolt torque relatively often is also a good idea to make sure the cams don't get loose. For...

I personally went with the original Taco Tabs. I just felt this design grabbed the tabs better to prevent movement in a hard event. No real evidence other than my own intuition. Also, I had a muffler shop spot solder behind the oem cam tabs (aka...
