Agreed. There are pictures of each step and better pictures in unrelated threads but this thread definitely needs pictures. If you want to increase your positive balance in Cruiser Karma, you will seek out the best pictures and link them to this...
@landcruiser3DP A belated thank you for a great write-up to help with belt replacement. I also wanted to comment on one of the things I like about mud - effective creative writing and humour while discussing technical issues - Aaron Ralston...
here is the idler pulley i pulled.
also since i was working alone i eventually put an X-acto in my pocket in case i got a finger caught Aron Ralston style in a belt or something.
bolts are for the battery box.
Engine needs to be at TDC on compression stroke. Look at the valves, if they are not engaged with the cam lobes and the timing marks on the HB line up you're good to go. If your exhaust valve is engaged with the cam lobe you'll need to come...
Many thanks. I appreciate you confirming the alignment marks will rotate. I've also read a bit more, and it looks like I may need to rotate 180* ( ie I have two dots on the inside of the gears and one on the outside and it should be the reverse).
Looks like you're good.

Overall found the experience to be reasonable...
I see most talk about using an "installer".
I'm guessing this is not a DIY friendly endeavor?
I need to do the front seats in my 80 and don't want to spend a mint.
Maybe this will defy logic, but my mechanic was able to remove the old fuel filler without cutting it or unbolting the body. Got a replacement from a rust free Georgia truck in the classifieds. I had to get a 1.5 inch fuel filler hose from Napa...
Yeah, I totally cut all of the 1/2" hose sections in the last batch too short. Realized it when I went to install mine before Fall Crawl. Sorry about that😭
Finally got around to installing the @OTRAMM stainless filler neck. Took about 3 hours and was pretty straightforward. All hoses and hose clamps required are included in the kit. It replaces all rubber going to the tank as well. Only hiccup was...
