Yankee Toys Holiday Party?

Hi all,

We'd like to put together a holiday party for the club this year. Probably in early December.

Please free to throw out ideas as to where and what we should do, we'd love your input. We have some funds to spend and we'd like to have this be a nice, indoor event for families.

Discuss!

Maybe New England Aquarium in Boston?

New England Aquarium Home

or Lars Anderson Auto Museum?

Larz Anderson is a cool idea!!

I am thinking cash bar (booooo!) catered horderves and desserts type stuff, not a sit down dinner.

Fun idea and thanks for putting it out there.

This place is an absolute blast and has pool tables, good food, and a nice bar. Since we all get together and go as slow as possible in the woods, it might be fun and funny to see everyone traveling so fast.

I'm not sure what is out there in this area but a nice centralized spot would be the Springfield MA area.

You are at the crossroads of I-91 and I-90, great access from all areas where our club resides.

I like the F1 idea. It;s about 15 mins south of Boston (without traffic) basically sits right above Rte 128 in Braintree.

Unfortunately Springfield only has the Basketball Hall of Fame and I hate basketball. It;s an option though

This might sound a little redneck but I can assure you it's a lot of fun.

A hotel party. Usually at a Holiday Inn with a pool or similar setup. No problem bringing coolers to your room. You have a buffet at one of the meeting rooms and then retire at the bar or where ever.

Getting a block of rooms can be so that you get your own section. Families can bring board games and some Hotels have video games on the TVs or even game rooms.

The rooms usually have two Queen beds and there is cots also available.

With YT helping out the cost could be around 100.00 per family/room depending on food costs.

Kind of like FG at night without fires.

The F1 racing is killer. Although I did try to drive over one of the rubbber tires and got high centered. Not much of an approach or departure angle on those puppies. They do handle much better than my truck....

I think that some place in north mass or south vermont (or even southern nh) would be a good stop.
Maybe Brat, since it is in southern vt. If I recall there are some good places there.
Just my 2 cents.

I'm loving the actual location of F1 as it's a whole 3 miles from my house but honestly, that place is way overpriced and their rules on even light accidental bumping is ridiculous (last time I went at least ~2007). They'll penalize you on anything and everything.

I vote for Larz too.

What about the hotel on Rte 2 near Fitchburg that has the Coco Key indoor waterpark at it? Would keep the kids happy and I assume there is a hotel bar.....fairly central location for NH and VT people. Not too bad of a drive from CT as well CoCo Key Water Resort

Nice John, I also found a Holidome in Holyoke that has a pool, hot tub and pool tables. They have a package that includes a large two topping pizza and 2 liter coke. Not that I'm saying that's the way to go.

Any of these hotel places will surely cut a deal for a good sized group. And no worries about the commute home afterwards.

NEOW and NEWJO always had it in Portsmouth NH because it was 'central' and the city can be a fun time bar hopping and such after the party. The venue always seamd to be Muddy River Smokehouse because we had our own room, full buffett and own bar. No need exposing the genral public to that crew.

Would this be a 'kid friendly' event? That is going to make a big difrence as to where its held/activities.

I absolutely want this to be a family event. Now that doesn't mean it has to be at a waterpark or Chucky Cheese, it just means that the setting and general tone of the event with be a healthy place for the whole family.

Little kids can't do much at F1 unfortunately

Depending on budget I say we find a centrally located McDonalds with a playland, we can parade the 40's through the drive-thru.

like the 40s would make it to a central location in the beginning of DEC. Maybe one or two, but a parade?
