No blocks, just some lift springs off of junk yard 4runner.

Rebuilt the front axle thanks to the damage from SI, had to replace three of the four knuckle bearings. Cleaned up both knuckles, drained the gear oil to pull the third just in case, replaced both inner axle seals, installed used axle shafts w/ birfields into chewed up ball sockets, and reassembled. The steering problem seems to be caused by the broken birfields. Just need to fill knuckles with grease, the diff gear oil, and install new caliper.

Longfields $700 bucks at one time. Looks like the broken Birfields have allready cleared out the knuckles for you.

Part I
This weeks Pull-A-Part project is turning a good 86 blue dash pad into a replacement for my cracked 88 gray pad. Found this great dash pad at Pull a Part for only $6.37, then got some Charcoal Gray vinyl/ fabric paint for $7.00. Cleaned up the donor pad with some soap and water blew off the water with the compressor hose and allowed the oven like shop to dry out the rest. Applied some adhesive promoter, and then a thin coat of gray, allowing a few minutes between coats I added a couple more coats of gray.
Part II
Stay tuned for install of the tipp'n meter, removal/ install of old and new pads.

Drilled some holes for the install of the tippin meter, pulled out the old dash, that hidden nut in the middle always gets me. Then installed the altimeter on the new pad, reinstalled the hole dash pad and AC vents which leads to the need for an 86 model ac vent for the hole all the way to the right near the passenger door. The older vents must be a little bit bigger to round out the corner of the older pads, but the 88 vent will work until then. Also the altimeter cover has a different fit just need to find an older one for some tighter gaps. So here is what it looks like now.

Looking great. I wish I had all of the bells and whistles like a tachometer, oil pressure gauge, altometer....etc. Hell, I'd even like to have a clock on my dash!
