SCC + Axles
I am going to buy a set of axles and wheels from a guy in Birmingham Alabama. He is going to the SCC and I was wondering if anyone would possibly be able to mud ship them back to me. I would compensate you for your time and fuel. If not its no problem I will figure out a way to get them back here.
Thanks,
Cruzersoul

Axles
Kjnarmyfj,
The axles are regular run of the mill fj40 axles. And the wheels are 15/8 pro-comp rock crawlers. Let me know if that is ok. I would really appreciate you picking them up.
Thanks,
Cruzersoul

You are a good man Jon you gonna have room for the wheels and tires too? All that help should warrant a club membership right

Axles
Here is a list of everything I am getting for 1800 dollars.
Front Axle-
4:88 ring and pinion
Aussie auto locker
Long Field 35 spline inner and outer shafts
60 series Knuckles
Trail gear High steer arms
ARP studs
knuckle gussets
axle is trussed
Asian hubs with long field chromoly gears
Rear Axle-
4:88 ring and Pinion
Aussie auto locker
disk breaks
axle truss
5 15X10 black pro comp steelies
4 3 inch Aluminum wheel spacers
Guys please let me know what you think about this setup.
1. I know that the axles are setup for spring under at the moment. How hard is it going to be to set them up for spring over. I might just keep them spring under for a while.
2. Are the auto lockers going to effect its drive ability on the road.
3. Last but not least is this a good deal. Chance says that the axles/ rims have less than 5 rides on them since the last rebuild.
Thanks,
Cruzersoul

Drive ability? Hah! What drive ability? Just kidding.
Having auto lockers on something that is full time 4wd is a bad idea but should be ok as long as you have those aisin's unlocked. The land cruiser guys probably know more about that.
As for having one in the rear, it is a strange experience that you will get used to. Just use light throttle when cornering and going around curves and you will be alright. Giving it heavy throttle will make it feel like it is controlling you and making you drive straight.
On slow turns you will sometimes notice a loud clicking that is similar to a slow turning ratchet. Sometimes the locker will not want to unlock on a slow hard turn which will cause load-up on your axle shafts, when the locker unlocks you will hear a loud bang that sounds like your axle shaft just snapped in half. This is normal and only happens when you don't expect it!
On the trail = heaven. I used to alway get stuck in anything muddy. If I lost traction on one wheel, I was pretty much stuck because the other turning wheel would loose traction too. I used to use a ton of skinny petal on every obstacle so I would be less likely to get stuck. Now I crawl through everything and only use momentum as a last resort.

Ordered a set of grapplers today so they are now 4-Sale $500 OBO for the set and I throw in a box of beads if you wanna try that route. I''ll offer them up in the SCC threads with free delivery to the crawl if no interest locally.
I put them on in April or May and made the OCC, Sicily and Coles Creek rides with them under 4000 in mileage. Great traction.

Located in Indiana. Don't know if anyone would want something from that far away but thought I would ask. Probably posted them on Hoosier Cruisers tomorrow.

Transfer Case
Looking for a good used 3 speed transfer case for a 66 fj40. My original one has a crack in the housing that the PO repaired with what looks to be JB weld. Would like it to be one that I can just bolt right it.
Thanks,
Drew
