like i said i have faith in driver ability vs. the name of your tires. trust me this is the first rig that i have owned with the ability to turn 35's.........even i have my doubts on having tires that big on a cruiser. not that i haven't seen it before just never had the experience. i have only had 33's on most of my rigs.
that truck will surprise you just watch, and you will be a better driver for it.

Right on man.....funny thing is folks who have never wheeled before get rigs with lockers & never learn to bump over or crawl a rock slowly seeing what the rig will do in stock form.
Lookin forward to wheelin with yawl........

This is my fj-60 and my friend I met on the trail. His 60 (pictured left) is Steve's. He later intoduced me to Marve Specter aka SOR.com. We had something in common. Awesome California guys. My daughter Zaya is getting in on the action.

Still Need to mount turn signals, Ordered some LED turnsignals should be coming in in the next few days.
From the side you can see an unexpected problem I am having, either the bumper, or my belly, is sticking out to far for me to reech the center of the hood to take it off the hood prop, I have to stand on the side of the truck
And here you can see where I had to trim the grill to clear the winch.
Still not wired, going to pick up a marine battery and have a dedicated set of terminals for the winch, and relocate the solenoid under the hood.

Looking good bud, you'll get use to the prop rod just wait till you put 37's on it and you'll need a step ladder. Now some black spray paint on the silver fender and you'll be gellin.

I am actually going to lowes after while and buying a folding aluminum platform to stand on when I work on it, been using a two step ladder but it is mighty rickety. After I get the Winch wired up I am going to start on some kind of tie downs in the bed to hold all my jacks, Fire Extinguisher, spare, tool box, and everything else from sliding around like it was @ paradise. While the winch was riding around in the back I had to make a few panic stops, I thought the whinch was coming to meet me in the front seat.
And I thought my silver fender added character . Thinking about it while I am at O'reillies buying the batteries after while picking up a couple cans of flat black.
Also I am probably going to take the Sawzall to some of the sheet metal behind the bumper, it is not supporting anything, and it hangs lower than the bumper so it would probably just get bent up anyway.

Very nice. I'd definitely like to find the time for in-cab winch controls myself! Larry has that and it comes in handy.

Yep, are sweet. Hoping to install mine before the event. I pucker up at the thought of cutting the dash everytime. May chicken out and move it to a rocker panel in the radio spot. Would also like a secondary VDO gauge for water like mike mentioned. Would have to come later, winter project.

I've seen folks screw them in on the lip along the bottom of the dash. Personally, I find it easier to keep your head up and look right or left slightly and since I plan to FINALLY take my factory radio out and get a Tuffy console, I will simply put my new radio in the Tuffy. I thought about what to do with the factory radio area (gave my blanks to Grogan!). I think that's a good spot for a few gauges...I'd like to get a measurement and look into these: http://www.autometer.com/cat_gaugeli...&opid=2&szid=1
As you can see, you could screw these in underneath on the metal lip (or even weld/other ) also, I haven't measured my old DIN/radio area, but maybe three small gauges like these would fit where the factory radio goes.

You could mount it on a 'C' shaped mount to the right and under the steering wheel where Toyota puts the factory AC controls. Cutting the dash on a sweet rig like yours would be a hard call. Have you seen the fj40 tech thread "check out the FJ40 we drove today"? it is on the first new page right now. I think you would need two batteries paralleled just to light them all up.

LOL, I saw that rig. Thats just as bad as an aircraft so many switches makes no sense on a 40. I chickened out and decided to make a plate using heavy ABS plastic that will go in the radio spot for rocker switches using the factory radio mounting holes. Layed it out on the table last night. See page 3 where Bull installed the same switch. I just can't do it, it hurts to look at cutting on such nice rigs http://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/98297-project-colonel-1979-fj40-3.html I'd like the gauges there as well but will figure out something else. I'd like to add a water temp and oil pressure gauge later.
