The trail riding is soooo much more fun than mudriding in a rice field. It's technical and the adrenaline is amazing considering you are going 5mph max. I would definitely recommend a set of budbuilt skid plates and a good set of sliders. Although, after all my stressing out this weekend over my sliders, I don't think I had to use them. I DID use the skid plates though, and they really gave me some peace of mind.

All in all though, if you don't have "everything" you think you need at the time, don't let it stop you from making it out to a ride. If you aren't comfortable taking the truck on a particular trail, there is always a free passenger seat and everyone needs a spotter.
Well said Brian. The Sicily rides are open to anyone its a pay to ride park. I don't know if we'll have anyone out there for this months ride being we just got back from a big ride and have a car show/monthly meeting on the 27th but everyone is welcome to go. The Nov event we've designated as a club ride and for the look of it we'll have a good showing. Cole is in Mandeville and is making the ride if you plan to go you should send him a pm and maybe follow him there.

Waddup: One thing you'll discover pretty quick is how tight we stay together on the trail. We did that at the Expo, Sicily Island and last weekend at the SCC. We go slow and pick trails that all the members together can do and when the better mod'd rigs in our group want to hit more technical challenges, we pull over, watch, take pics and spot.

We firmly believe in sticking together. I think you'll be hooked real bad once we get you out to Sicily and you can wheel your rig on some trails. It's an awesome adventure.

Well this isn't my rig but it is my fathers, so close enough, right?
It is a 83 FJ-40. The first pic is the day he got it with stock suspension.

This is the first day he got is license plate and went off roading. He did't see the tree behind the bush. The second pic it is lifted 4 inches with shackle reversal. The rock damage was before he got the lift.

now lifted with 33 BFG's. and a straight bumper. The truck is now at Wimberly 4x4 getting ARB lockers front and rear, tire carrier with gas cans, rust cut out on pasenger rear fender well, roof rack, and a ton of other stuff. My father would love to do the work himself but just doesnt have the time. We plan on driving this one down to Panama next year.

Yes, it is a USA 40. I think they imported like 365 that year. It has factory AC and PS and every option that Toyota offered. I think there was less than 40 with these options. The factory invoice was $11,500. and he has that and all paperwork from the day of purchase. I try and explain how rare this truck is, and not to beat it up like he is doing right now. He said he just wanted to play hard before he does a complete restore and brings this rig back to mint condition. It is in that process right now. He is going to buy another one for a trail rig as soon as we find him a 84 bj-42 turbo diesel from Costa Rica. The search begins next week when we go down there. Because of this I am going to miss the sicely Isand event I really wanted to make the event but I will try not to miss the next one.
