Well, two days of driving...as far as Jeanerette and New Iberia twice....rides great...accels way smoother and faster than any other cruiser I've ever owned....and I used 4.5 gallons of diesel. Pretty sweet. That intercooled Turbo diesel is nice..I'm sure that the H55F 5-speed helps as well....i kept forgetting it was a 5-speed...lol....It's also much much quieter than a 40 series...It is also loaded with torque. It has more torque than the 4.2L 2F motor and you can tell. Overall, I'd say it's my favorite cruiser yet....now for a paint job! Stock or camo? Stock or Camo? LOL...here's a pic of it just before all the welding and POR-15:

Camo would be from this guy: Camo Designs by Ricky
Otherwise, back to stock OEM:

I love it! haha

I'm not a huge fan of camo vehicles, but I'd bet it would look good on that.

Despite everyone seemingly wanting me to tear it up, I am leaning towards a digital camo pattern and using it as a company vehicle for obvious reasons. Also, there were less than 1000 of these ever imported and not many left. I'm leaning towards preservation more than destruction at the moment....sorry to disappoint...

Obviously no one want's carnage of our own group... including your new toy.

"Beat the hell out of it" only means "using it" as you know. Thought you were gonna use this one to "trail" and save the 80... (although someone said that you weren't gonna want to lay it on it's side when you got that rare girl ...lol )

No disappointment.. just enjoy it. I have no intention of laying mine on it's side ... if I can help it.

...that'll be the next one.

Dude with a rig like that I would lean towards preservation too. Thats the only reason I beat as hard as I do on my 4runner is because when i got it it was too far gone to be restored, and if I wanted another one I could jsut watch the quick quarter and find another one probably in better shape in a few months.

Very nice Mike, I am glad it has exceeded your expectations! I want to hear that turbo! Let me know if you need any parts. I will be in Land Cruiser heaven in about 10 days. If you need any factory parts I could grab them for you. New or used. There are tons of 70's down there and the "Land Cruiser II" which I think are 70's but they sport a "Land Cruiser II" badge. The electric company has at least 75 of of 70's just sitting on lots rusting away, ready for me to pull parts.

Congrats on the new rig!! What a quick transformation! How did you get this thing looking so different, so quickly? Welding and POR-15? You must have worked non-stop since its arrival. As for the camo vs stock, I'm partial to camo. Ricky does a great job and I'd bet it would be a lot less expensive to go that route. Plus, with camo, you don't need to manage every minor body imperfection. A camo paint job masks those very nicely. Anyway, that's just one duck hunter's opinion on camo. Congrats again!

The POR15 and welding was done by the PO. He put it on rather thick....then experimented with colors....plus he put the UV protectant atop that....its thick and gnarly....but POR-15 breaks down in sunlight, so you have to do that if you don't paint it right away...you also have to put it on bare metal only....It needs alot of sanding and grinding....to smooth it all out....Inside it has Tundra seats which I love, and everything works....I just want ALL new rubber everywhere and I mostly just need all the rubber and detail stuff....because all my lights and gauges and stuff work. I do have factory Toyota weatherstripping for all of my doors already. All genuine Toyota. I have brand new glow plugs, and tons of toyota filters, etc. The weatherstripping goes on just like my 80 series...just snap it on...with built-in drainage. I am still going thru all the parts he sent.

Isaac, I appreciate the offer and certainly won't pass it up...I'm looking for some used interior panels for the doors and rear mostly....the rest of the stuff I need is mostly all the remaining rubbers for the windows and windshields and such.....which I want to get from Toyota new...other than rubber parts, emblems, etc...just the panels really...

I bought another set of rear doors, and mirrors and front grill and guard yesterday (didn't really need it, but wanted it) Got the doors both for 300 bucks. Anyway, things are moving right along. Ordered some new emblems and lights, etc....

So the plan is to get it into a body shop for grinding and prepping and then bring to Ricky for Digital Camo. He's already expecting it and will paint my laptop too while he's at it...

Tan/Brown. They took the OEM panels out the rear, along with the rear seat. And made custom Aluminum panels. I just don't want them. I want the stock panels back on.

So the main things I'd like to get are:

1. Rear panels both sides. They are very narrow and not too long. About 18" x 30" or so.
2. Sunvisors...these work great and are very tight, etc., and could likely just be recovered. But if available, it'd be nice.
3. Any emblems or lights that are cheap...nice to have...especially after wheeling...breakage, etc...

Trying to keep it small...none of this is heavy or large...
If it's not too much stuff or trouble that is. Just let me know how much and I can wire the funds to you! Thanks Isaac!

I will give you a call when I find them and we can go from there. There are lots of aftermarket lights and stuff like that down there and they look OEM but they are typically of aftermarket junk you see in the states. Could you PM me your phone # I lost it.

That thing is huge. Makes your other cruiser look like a mini. I like the small step in back of the front fender. How is the HP from that motor?

Yeah those steps are chopped running boards, they are pretty cool. The motor feels pretty strong, its got the stock 2f & a header. I made some progress on getting the brake lights fixed but not good to go yet. Radiator hoses are looking a bit iffy, leaky tcase & steering box, but she's a runner

Had a good visit with Jason this afternoon on the way in from MS today. Good looking beast of a rig and can't wait to get on the trail with him. He's got a nice work shop with some good cruiser goodies and tools. I eyeballed the nice new press he had when I walked in the door. Funny story I started telling him about a article I read in the Toyota owner mag about Metaltech tube fenders and how I liked them. He says I have some check'em out.

A few more pics I took.
