Good pics, and a great time. Thanks for letting a straggler hang out. Deryl, Scott has been working hard for several months on our T-Shirts and BSLCA gear on his own $. He tried a local company and it didn't work out and lost money on the deal. Since Scott has been in communication with Jeff with Cottonland Cruisers our good neighbors in Jackson, MS and he's helping put something together. Scott can elaborate and as mentioned above we'll discuss at the meeting and try to get a count on T-Shirts to start. Look for an email or post here for the latest. Have a good Sunday my friend; wish you were able to make it to the meeting so we can talk cruiser.

LL

I wish I could have made it to the meeting. I saw the pictures, seems like a good turn out. I really appreciate all the hard work with the club and the t-shirts. I'm ready to sport my cruiser bling.

Thanks for the support Deryl. The club is headed in the right direction and the hard work is paying off and we can start having fun. We have a good group of guys and its going to continue to get better. I spoke to Jason again at the meeting and he's made every meeting so far from Baton Rouge so if you decide you want to catch a ride with him he said he'd be happy to have you jump in with him. We look forward to putting a face with the name.

Sorry to hear that bud, I was out cruising with the kids. We caught the last parade. Was going to call you so we could all get together and catch a movie but my crew slept in the cruiser all the way back, how I don't know

...As for the milemarker I had guys I know that ran the 10000lb hydraulic and steadily burned up PS pumps. I was never impressed by the ones I've seen being used out on the trails. Maybe they've gotten better. In my opinion its a double edged sword to have your PS pump burn up and lose the use of your winch out on the trail for a weekend. However I have seen some of their electric winches the 11000,12000lb winches that perfomed as well as the Warns.

LL[/quote]

I hear you... http://www.milemarker.com/history.html
had me considering it...pretty convincing statements/claims there that's for sure.....but of course, if you're fording rivers in a gasoline-powered rig, you could easily end up with a stalled engine, and PTO and Hydraulic only work if your engine is running...I'd take my chances in a BJ-series though....

My experience between the mile marker and the warn electric winches is about the same. I think you may pay more for a warn due to the name brand....

I know someone who has a 8000 electric mile marker brand new in the box....If you want I can call to see if he will part with it....

Some good prices on these, I have been thinking of getting one of those el' cheepo Harbor freight winchs just to have one, and once I get a better one moving the HF back to the rear and having dual winches but at that price I could probably just bite the bullet and buy a decent one to begin with.

Need some advise and opinions

I posted this up last night in th chit chat section and one guy answered. I know I can trust you guys for some feedback. I just converted my garage 22 X 20 into a game room for the kids. I have had the intention of buying a pool table when they get older. Well the good deals always come along at the wrong time. Ran across a friend and he wants to sell his brunswick "orleans" for $1000. I thought this was a great deel because a nice brunswick like this one goes for 4500 plus on thier website. I'm just torn on taking so much space in the room and passing up a good deal thoughts, advise? Any plus's or minus's????

If that table is not 20 years old, its a hell of a deal bro. Your right, that table is the cadillac of pool tables. I know someone that paid 1k for one that was at least 10 years old. Now about the space...I hear ya....You could always make a top cover for it and make it a eating table when not in use... Seen that done before...Its ok I quess...Good luck...

Are there any done sides to it. The feel I get from friends I have talked to only good things. That might be so they can come to my house and play. I have never had one. Had a friend that had one in college and it was never not in use.

I personally would love to have one... The only down side I can see is the space these tables kill. Is this a regulation size? Those ar bigger...Not sure the exact size though... It is nice for relaxing with some brew and friends!

Wow... right answers ... I have none. It looks to be a very very nice table and from what it sounds like.. a very good price.

I'll play the devil's advocate here:

1. You've probably worked very hard in life and if it's something you want for you, then buy it if you have the room and the little won't kill you. You're right... good times and plenty of beer over that thing.

2. If you honestly are going to get one for the kids when they get older.. are they old enough to enjoy it and take care using it now?? Is it going to take up space they need now? A good deal is only really a good deal if you "need" something. ...not really if you don't.

Now that that's over ... back to the !!!! Look, buy the table and invite some BSLCA folks over!!!!! LOL...

Nah, do what's best for you. Sounds like you want it really bad but "know" now is not that time.

....$1000 are 5 new 33x12.5x15 BFG/MT's and $200 to spare!!!

Good luck bud

Scott

I agree with the advice above, my old man had a table like that for years until the family grew and he had to get rid of it. He had a Puma or something like that, regulation size. My only suggestion is to have a local gaming company come over and set it up for you when you get it where you want it. We have a local gaming company that charges $75.00 to come out to the house to level and set it up for you. I've heard its worth it if you plan on playing on it alot with no tilt issues. They even restretch the felt for you should it need it. As for the room "The Male in us, we just never have enough room no matter how big a room or shop is" making do with what you have my friend. We can always caravan a group of BSLCA guys over with a couple hammers and knock out a wall or two to help make room, and maybe even put in that cormer bar with ice cold brews in the fridge. LOL.

My grandfather had a very nice Olhausen pool table when we were kids. I have lots of great memories of tournament games with the family. We did learn at an early age, no drinks on the table, sticks & balls are not toys, and to be careful not to dig the stick into the felt
They had their table in the basement which flooded a couple times and had the felt replaced both times- there was no other damage to the table, it was always perfectly level.

good advise, and thanks. Larry I will need the number for the people you know that level the table. Im going to buy it and lend it to my brother, which maty be a huge mistake, but anyway. He is going to bring it to his house in Lafayette and use it there for he has an extra room. So club meetings might be possible since it will be close, thanks guys, Deryl

Memories that last a life time, just think of the stories these old pool tables can tell.

My Sad FJ45 story...

Well I just had to share this with you all. Here I am searching for FJ45's when I run across this thread:

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-98401.html

Realize that it's Nolen talking about my rigs he bought...the part about the FJ-45 killed me though...

Man, you just never know what you'll find online I suppose...anyway, I'm too sad to continue...had to vent...

Wow.. ya know.. I saw this thread some time ago and never thought twice about it. Sorry buddy. We'll keep looking. How much you think you'll get a fair-good rig for?? (I'd think 9-12K)

What ever happened to the 45??

Scott
