Moving to Georgetown - Advice?
Hey guys! I'm moving down to Georgetown KY for a 6 month internship at Toyota and wanted some advice from guys who live down that way. If you live in a dry county, what do you do for fun? Around here we hit up the bars about 3-4 times a week, but I'd imagine that'd be hard if you have to drive 5-6 miles to get to a bar in Lexington.
Also, where should I look to find a place to live? I've tried the regular places online with limited success, especially because I'd love to have a garage spot if I could.
Thanks for your help!

Hay GLTHFJ60,
It just so happens that I along with 7 or 8 others in our club work at the plant. What section are you going to work in? Georgetown is semi-dry, which means you can buy drinks by the glass at the local resturants but not packaged liquor. The closest place to buy a 6 pack of beer is about 5 miles south of the city. One of the guys in the club has a large 3 bay garage with a lift that we usually have our monthly club meetings at. There are several apartment buildings in Georgetown and houses to rent as well. Lexington is about 15 minutes south of Georgetown, and there is a huge selection of apartments and houses to rent there. If you want to give me a call, I can fill you in on more details. My phone # is 502-370-7548 And my name is Kenny Hatch. Look forward to seeing you here and hopefully at our meetings and wheeling trips.

Kenny, excellent to meet you! I am working for the Information Services section ( I believe that's what it's called ) of the plant. I'm a networking security guy, but I'm not entirely sure what I'll be doing. I know I'll be a project manager of some type, but we'll see when I get there.
As for housing, the only thing I'm looking for is a garage spot where I can wrench on my rig if I want / have to. Considering that, where would it be cheaper to get a place? I don't mind driving a bit, but closer is always better.
Thanks for the info Kenny! I'll give you a call as we get closer to March, or as I get closer to getting a place. Thanks again!

Well I just got down to KY yesterday in my cruiser and couldn't be happier with my housing situation! I am rooming with a 27 year old professional in a beautiful house in Lexington. I'm excited to start at TEMA tomorrow!
Do you guys get together regularly?

Are you going up to Erlanger, or to the Georgetown plant? It just so happens me and another member of the club are meeting up with some guys from the EOE overland organization this weekend to deliver some supplies to a mission in Eastern KY and then going wheeling SUnday in Harlan KY. Your welcome to come with us either driving or riding. Let me know if your intrested and also where your desk is going to be and I'll drop by.

Kenny, I'm working in the Georgetown plant in IS. Second floor in the main administrative building to the left of the center elevator behind the security desk. Not sure if that's descriptive enough, but I've only been there one day so far.
I won't have enough money for gas to go wheeling on Sunday, but would love to get together with you guys on Saturday if you have another seat! If you get a chance, email tomorrow me at john.casale@tema.toyota.com and I'll tell you exactly where my desk is.

Also, I saw what I thought was a lifted FJ80 driving up my street ( Ferndale Pass ) while I was rotating my tires. It had mud tires, a large CB antenna and stickers all over it. I only caught a glimpse of it, but anyone know who it was?

I'll e-mail you tomorrow and we can hook up and I'll give you the low down on this weekends activity. Was it a White FJ80?

It might have been.....I heard the engine and looked up as it was driving by so I didn't get a good look at it. The driver waved at me which I thought was cool.

No exo cage. It was definitely a light color, maybe not white. Champagne?
