New rig, and I need some parts

I am picking up my ’78 FJ40 tonight after work, and I took next week off to play. But I also need some parts for it. I was hoping that some of you guys that are fairly local might have some of what I need that I could buy, and maybe save some on shipping. If any of you have any of these, or know someone who does, and that would be willing to part with them, would you let me know? And I know I am getting some parts with it that I probably won’t need, so when I get a list of those I will be up for trades also.

Transfer shifter boot
Tranny shifter boot
Tailgate
Windshield mount mirrors
Air tank

I know there is more that I’m not thinking of, and I’m sure even more once I get it home. But I know I need at least the mirrors just to get it inspected and tagged.

Thanks,

Jim

Will look for the boots.. I probably have them lying around. I know I have a transmission boot but need to make sure I don't need it and have a spare for the 45.
Mirrors your best bet is CCOT..

Come-on you gotta post picks of the new ride. Did you trade your bike for the 1 on craigslist?

Thanks for checking, and finding the roll bar. I will make sure you get some beer for your trouble.

I haven't picked it up yet, yes its the one on craigslist. The pics that I have gotten aren't very good, they don't do it justice. But I plan t take a bunch this weekend, and next week while I am working on it.

Okay I finally have some pics. Some, the way it looked when I picked it up, and then after I added the diamond plate to cover up the cut out rear quarters. It still needs cleaned up a little, but I’m happy with the progress.

I am thinking of swapping the cage it came with for the factory roll bar, I have sent some pictures out, and I just wanted to make sure they were received. But I ran into a problem when I tried taking out the cage, it was obviously assembled in the rig, because it won’t come out. It looks like the mounting plates will need to be cut to get it out. So let me know if there is any interest, but I believe it will need to be cut.

There are still a few minor parts that I could use. I have the tubular tire carrier, and I need the hook, and the brace that hold it in place when it is latched. If anyone has those, would you please let me know?

Thanks, I knew the pictures he sent me didn't really do it justice. I'll have to post more pictures since I got rid of most of the oxidation on the rest of the paint.

It looks like I am going to keep the cage. I finally got it out, only to find out that the wheel wells had been raised. So the factory roll bar won't fit either. So I modified the cage a little, and put it back in.

Then my clutch master cylinder started leaking, so it looks like I got myself a money pit. But I guess I knew that going in, but I didn't expect it all at once.

Welcome to the club. Fuel tank started leaking on mine, again, had to have a bad area patched, again. Too cheap to buy a new OEM one.

I have figured out a couple more parts that I need. If any of you might have them, just let me know what you want for them, I will be happy to take them off your hands. Thanks to Erik, and Eric, I have two sets of front seat belts. But I need the receivers for them. I'm not sure if they changed over the years, or if any set would match up. I think these are the last pieces I need to get it inspected. I am also looking for the parts to get my tubular spare tire carrier mounted. I have the carrier, and I believe I need the hook, and a brace that mount below the ambulance doors.

Can any of you help me find these parts?

thanks,

Jim

Oh, yeah. And also thanks to Erik, and Eric, and the modifications made by the PO, I have a factory roll bar with seat belts that I don't need. So if someone wants it, you can have it for the same deal I got on it. Just come pick it up. Or if you are reasonably close, I might even deliver it just because I am new to this and would like to take a look at your rig, and maybe learn something.

Just let me know.

most toyota seat belt holders from junkyard should work. try a toyota pickup with the hard ones that stick thru the seat not the floppy ones.

Ok, thanks. I was thinking about bringing the belt out to u-wrench-it and see if I could find something it would fit.
