Texas bound... for a while at least
As some of you already know, my job at Sprint was eliminated earlier this year. Since then I have been unsuccessful at finding any suitable work here in the KC area, so I have accepted a 6 month contract position with Fujitsu in the Dallas area starting Aug 4.
I have really mixed feelings about the change. The positive side is that I will be doing the kind of engineering work that I enjoy the most (designing wireless systems). The biggest negative is leaving all my friends and fellow wheelers in TAC.
I will be renting an apartment in Dallas for the duration of the contract. I'm planning on leaving the 80 and the mini in KC for now. However, we are putting the house on the market, so when the house sells, I'll have to find someplace for 'em. Given the current state of the housing market, I probably won't have to worry about that for a while, tho...
I expect that I'll be a web wheeler for the rest of this year, but if I can get some time off, I'm going to try to make Flat Nasty. Have to see how things go.
Anyway, I just want to say that I am so proud to have been around this great group of folks for the past 7 years or so. I can't recall ever being in any organization that seems to run as smoothly and with none of the politics or drama that seem to work their way into many groups like this. Everyone in TAC should be proud of this organization and what has been achieved.
Take care,
Bob

Enjoy Dallas (in a couple of months...)! Lots to do and you are now a reasonable distance from Katemcy, as opposed to say, KC.

Is your office going to be located in Richardson? I live in richardson and i read in the paper that Fujitsu was making part of its home there. If so you would be about a mile from my house.
Welcome to TX!

But we're mighty proud to have you down here.
Lone Star meets the 3rd Thursday each month at Hard 8 BBQ in Coppell.
Unfortunately, you just missed the July meeting.... :-(
Give me a call when you get in and I'll arrange a welcome party.
Happy Trails! N

Seems change is the name of the game. You are such a stalwart fixture with TAC it won't be the same. But hopefully paths will continue to cross. Best of Luck in Lone Star State.

Thanks, Rob.
I do still want the shafts, but I will have to wait until I know whether this position will be permanent or not. If you need to go ahead and sell them, please don't hesitate to do so.

I just bought 2 27 spline longs and hub gears. Marlin's price was attractive but Long's are proven.

I agree with Gary. 30 spline is overkill unless you plan to go to 37"+ tires and apply lots of skinny pedal or drop in a V6. I've been running 27 spline Longs and cryo'ed stock birfs for the last 2 years with no problems.

Best of luck in TX Bob, and here's to hoping you make it back. If you need a spot for stuff down this way don't hesitate to ask.

Bob, good luck on your new gig...hope everything works out for you and your family.
If there's anything I can do to help let me know...I will happily take your mini or 80 wheeling a few times while you’re gone...you know...so they don't feel neglected.
