| Bryan -
I'm always open for an outing. There's another TAC member "wfd175" - near me as well. We've talked about making a run to Flat Nasty sometime in the near future. Also met "Miescha" on mud and invited him too.
Others - Any thoughts on the below?
Bryan raises a point regarding the STL side of the state. There are a few folks in the area that would like to be closer to the club happenings. Most meetings etc take place in the KC area. Often too far to drive especially with cruiser mileage.
I know there are TAC members in the area but other than a few I really don't even know who they are. Those of us on the eastern side of the state are missing a vital benefit of being part of a chapter --- developing relationships and finding wrenchin'/wheelin' buddies.
The last thing that I would want to see happen is anything that would take away from the TAC member list. Please don't think of this as a desire to start a new chapter. I want nothing to do with it and certainly am not able to make the commitment that is necessary to keep it going. I appreciate the hard work the TAC members have put into building a solid club and in my opinion the dues are a small price to pay in exchange for it. Maybe some sort of bastardized subchapter of TAC would work? Dunno.
Any help that could be provided to bring the STL area folks closer together would be greatly appreciated. After all, that's what makes the cruiser community so great. If anything I think it would only increase TAC membership by giving eastern MO people a greater reason to join.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jason |

| Jason/Bryan,
The issues you have brought up are issues we have been struggling with since the inception of the club. Our club members are spread widely over the four state region, and planning events which everyone can attend is next to impossible. Actually, if you map it out, KC is the center of the club. We have several from Wichita, KS, one from Kearney, NE, a few from the Joplin area, Des Moines, etc. So you can see that the STL members aren't the only ones travelling some distance to get to KC.
That said, I strongly encourage you guys to put event(s) together for the STL area. You'll be surprised how many are willing to travel to other places than Tuttle! Last month a group got together in Wichita and had a great time. I'd considered going, but had other stuff in the works that weekend.
One of the main reasons our club has remained active (IMO) is the fact we are a diverse group who isn't forced to get together each month. We plan events that we want to do, when and where we want to do them. The club gives us that ready list of buddies to call to set these up.
So this is my long-winded response to your concerns. Take the lead, plan events in your area, invite the club, and enjoy! I've been around long enough to know you aren't going to step on any toes.
Chris

I probably would have got my point across better had I rambled less in the last post so here it is in a sentence:
It's tough to put together an outing for the area when you don't know who the members in the area are.
What we really need is some assistance from TAC in identifying the folks from the STL area. I'm sure not all of them are on mud. What other means can be used to help us/me contact them? If it's simply a matter of mailing something out to them I'd be happy to do it.
I know of 2 members other than myself. (Not sure if Bryan (extremetoy) is a member.) Surely there are others?

| Over here in Edwardsville I am in Edwardsville, near the university.
I know there are a couple of members over this way but don't know them either.
We should definitly plan a get together.
I for one have very wierd schedule which makes it really hard to plan ahead.
Long story short, tell me when and where and I will try to make it.

| Are any of y'all able to make it to the annual meeting in KC?
I've kicked around the idea of a Wichita chapter of Tornado Alley, much like Lone Star has done with their sub-chapters. I don't think we have enough folks in Wichita to start a new chapter and I sure don't have the drive do it right now. I was gonna bring this up at the meeting. It may not even become anything like an official chapter either...... dunno. Again, just kick'n around ideas.

I won't be able to make it but I will be in KC the following weekend to join Zane's slider building project.
I like your idea about an informal chapter - I don't care what we call it I'd just like to get the area members together. As it says under your username, "I jus wanna wheel."
PS - How's the 80 coming? Got it trail ready yet?

Jason | Gathering parts at this point. I got some medium springs located (thank you Casey!) Once the lift and tires are on I gotta get some more done on the 40 tho.

"Violent Crime Capital Cruiser Club" might be more in tune with STL. |

There's this lil ole place called Columbia.
I think the TLCA President lives there...?
There's a 4wd park nearby too.

| What? There's a president that lives in Columbia...
I was just there. Chef, did you get my email?
I hate to say this because I might jinx myself...
I will be at the meeting on the 10th.
Probably driving my truck unless my wife lets me take her new cruiser.

| Your wife got a new cruiser? you do something wrong?
Ditto what chris said.. Just have fun in a local setting get to know each other wrenching etc. Go wheeling local and if you want, just let people know when and where. If they can make it they will.. It's all about having fun and meeting people. I can honestly say that I have a ton of friends in this hobby and I travel a long ways to see them. Only way they became friends is we just kept getting together and doing stuff. So DO IT.. Have fun.. if people can't make it a ways away, don't fret.. Still just have fun..
So set something up . You build it they will come.

| Another St. Louis guy here. I have a short list of folks that I put together for TTORA purposes as well, all from the STL area. I posted in the other thread about this as well. Anyone in the STL area, please feel free to contact me for any reason. Here, TTORA (same screen name) or via email at jester_motorsports@yahoo.com

| By the way, there's a great new place in my hometown called Hannibal Rocks. It's owned by the same folks as Rockport Offroad Park if anyone is familiar with that place. Anyway, I just thought I'd throw that out there as a place for the "easterners" to get together. Nice close place. |

Nice close place. | I think WERock is scheduled there this year as well. Gonna try to make out for that event and check out the F-Toy's.

I made it to one event last year and it was awesome...cold, but awesome.
There's a guy in California, MO that has a killer 4Runner...Kyle McDaniel. Him and his daughter usually compete. He's a helluva driver. |
