ISUZU Vehi Cross------pos?
I know of a silver one that I think is cheap at $4,000 with 105k on the clock.
Anyone know any details on these?

I've seen them in the past and they look cool. A lot of plastic which makes it look cheap though. As a matter of fact I saw one yesterday and commented about it to my friend while we were drinking our girly starbucks coffees outside in the beautiful 70 deg California weather. That's right people it's 70 deg here and I'm going wakeboarding in a few hours.
Anyone have any off road experience with them?

Shane,
I have no direct experience but from what I have read they are not a POS. They were essentially hand assembled and ISUZU lost money on each one they built. They were built to a high quality standard. Visibility sucks but probably no worse than the FJC.
Fitting a SFA might prove to be a challenge though.

i liked the way they looked but finding parts maybe a pain and if it gets wrecked finding body parts could be really difficult a/o expensive
i also bet the blind spots are as bad as a fj cruiser

There are two driving around Anchorage that have big lifts (5 inch or more?) on them, no idea if they're readily available or some kind of custom lift tho..

They're kinda cool in an ugly duckling sort of way. They've got the last generation Trooper drivetrain (3.5L and T.O.D.). I've always been a fan of Isuzus.

I think they are pretty neat. They are defintitely not uni-body POS like you might think upon first glance. I think they only made a few thousand of them, so sourcing replacement body parts might be tough. Many of the drivetrain parts should be readily interchangable with old troopers.
Edit: I'd say 4K is a dang good price on one if there is nothing wrong with it.

I did two trips to Moab for Isuzu Corp. representing them on the trails with a stock truck. Each trip was 4 days long and trails all day. The VehiCross owners were a gung ho bunch and their trucks were all within a year or two of new. So I watched them wheel quite a bit and one day of each of these trips I spent an entire day on the trails with the VehiCrosses and came away impressed with their trail capabilities. We were on some fairly tough trails and they were really impressive even though most of the owners were amateurs. The vehicle more than made up for it and was easily the most trail capable Isuzu. I considered buying one myself for a while. They're unique, well built and capable - what more could you want?
Thumbs up.

I picked it up for the weekend test drive at 6:30.
Has moss on all the edges, emblems, body moldings and so on. Inside is a typical one owner non smoker Asian ladys car, it's MINT. has Recaro seats factory, but no cup holder anyplace, WTF?
Rear seats recline back, the rear door has no latch to open it as you must use the key. AWD with winter and sport options for trans/suspension.
Roof rack looks to be OE and a Yakima
100% original and needing a full tune I would think, need to find out what is needed at 100k or whats past due.

O ya, I sprayed the whole thing down with an oil base dressing (detail slime) I mean the whole thing but the glass. This soaks into the moss and soaks into the plastic and rubber. Hot bucket of water with way to much Dawn and started scrubbing from top to bottom. Pressure washed it off and then washed it. After it was dried I sprayed the whole thing with a water base dressing and will be letting it sit over night till about noon tomorrow. Then I will wash it with car wax wash and will post pics later.
Dent in the drivers door that is small but would need paint and well as one in the rear door. other than that its mint.
Inside it clean and I will just give it a vac and then put some miles on it in the afternoon.

Hey, uh could you test drive MY car next weekend? It could use a nice hot wax and perhaps you'd have time to clean and coat the leather for me? Heh. Good luck and have fun.

Don't you need new leather???? You are welcome any time and I stock all the detail goods.
So how this might work is my girl got rear ended in our Cadillac Eldorado last week and to my surprise they are going to total our car. The Altima grenaded on impact and Cads bumper and exhaust are wasted with no panel damage = $4,800 damage. So I have the option to buy it back for $290.00
This was my comuter car to work and she just happened to have it that day. So I needs a new ride.

Go for it! If you take it back all cleaned up then don't buy it, they will sell it for $10k and you will be kicking yourself.
I love the looks of those things and turn my head every time I see one on the road... which is not often because there were so few sold in the US.

Nice deal coming on the Cad. A guy here in my neighborhood has a Yellow one and I've secretly lusted after it. Trouble is it would not get me anything better than what I have. The 80 is better looking, goes better offroad, rides better onroad, carries more, and is built by Toyota. So, just a secret lust.

. It is a small, sporty 2-door crossover vehicle with aggressive external styling, including short overhangs, an aggressive forward stance, titanium "teeth" in the grille, a black hood-insert, and black plastic cladding the entire lower half of the vehicle. The US VehiCROSS came equipped with 16" polished wheels in 1999 and 18" chrome wheels during the remainder of production. The Japanese version only ever having 16" alloys with chrome center caps.
The VehiCROSS is highly regarded for its cross-terrain performance. It combines a computer-controlled all-wheel-drive system for on-road driving and a locked-differential low gear four-wheel-drive system for off-road driving. Its computer controlled " Torque on Demand" system, with 12 independent sensors detecting wheel spin and redirecting power to the wheels with the most traction, gives the VehiCROSS a high level of traction on wet and icy roads. It also has a high level of performance for its height. While possessing on-road nimbleness, its body-on-frame truck construction, suspension and 4WD gearing make it very capable off-road.
