80 series camping kit
Not sure if this be the right forum for this, but anyways....
Does anyone have any pics of a fully assembled camping kit in an 80 series?
I'm just guessing, but I think I might be missing something in mine. It has some brackets bolted to the floor in the back, then some lacquered wood across them thats attached to the metal brackets with large hand screws. 2 of the bed panels are velcro'd to this wood and cut to fit the inside body panels. There are another 2 bed panels, both different shapes, and with velcro again. I would guess these lie across the back seats when they are tumbled down, but it seems they would need a bracket of some kind to support them properly?
It has also a little gas stove of some kind in a basket that unbolts, and a plastic sink in a box that hooks over something.
I'm having problems posting pics, but I'll get them up as soon as possible.

I have 2 more of those fabric covered boards, not shown in the above pictures, that I can't figure out how they mount. They must fit over top of the back seats when folded down, but there are no brackets to support them.
I bought a twin size"woods" air mattress today and will see how that works in there, no room for a queen size, or double, with that dumb raised tray. I think I might wack that off.

I think this Cabela's Double sleeping pad would make a good mattress pad if you remove the shelf. 54x78x3.5" high.

Somebody once said that having a camping kit in the rig put it in a more affordable insurance or registration bracket and that's why they are so common and generally unused. They are all aftermarket.

Yes, not made by Toyota but I think most were dealer installed and sold as a package or edition. Here some more pics.
Also, here is a cool little fold away sink from I think maybe a Prado.

One of the guys in our club with a JDM 60 series has a little sink and some other stuff in his, and he was able to get it insured here as an RV.
I tried it with mine but the agent wouldn't bite.

So, is there also a discount here too if it is registered and insured as a RV?

In Japan, there was a time when you could register your vehicle as a camping car (and '8' code number plate) and your registration fees were alot lower. Dealers had a series of packs you could buy to fit and have as the evidence that the vehicle was for that purpose. If you going to use it for that purpose you normally got that 'deluxe' version. I had the poverty pack (other 'other phoro'). It's simple design is what allowed you to take it out (and put it back in a hurry when needed).
Hence the velcro.
Cheers
