New to the LC community

Hey Fellas
I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Carlos from Bolingbrook and I am a proud owner of a 1978 FJ40. It's no show car but nonetheless I love it. I've had it for a few weeks now and its actually starting to grow on my wife. This will help as I begin to spend our kids college funds on fixing it up.
The truck came from Bloomington Illinois. Saw an ad one night, wished the timing was perfect, as always, it never is and went to bed. The next day as I headed for work I passed one up on the street. I thought "what the ****", picked up my cell and called the owner. He said that it ran but was mostly parked because he didn't have time for it. That same evening I told my wife I was working late and drove over 100 miles out of Chicago. The rest is history.
I look forward to learning as much as possible about this truck through the wealth of information on this forum. At the same time, while making long lasting friendships

Cheers

Does anyone have a body shop they can recommend that can work on my truck. Im looking to clean up the body and give it a new paint job. Any advise would be great.

Hey Carlos, welcome to MUD. Technically, I'm a newbie too, but welcome anyway! In the couple of months that I've been lurking I've found that there is an unbelievable amount of good tech info in the 40-55 Tech forum, and it is a very active forum with some serious knowledge on tap. Check out the FAQ links especially!

I'll PM you with a little body shop info that may help.

Good luck with your 40, you did the right thing - always go with your gut!

By the way, watch out for 4rnr, he's a little "personality challenged".

Have fun!

The original green is a great color for a 40. I have a fairly clean one north of you that will give you an idea of what it might look like with a fresh coat of paint.

Enjoy the harassment here on mud. It is all in good fun. You will learn as much as you want to know about cruisers and then some from these guys. There is pretty much nothing that will stump this crew.

Welcome.

nice 40 by the way!

Goebs

Ive got a pro body guy, who does good work for cheap in his garage, and no job is too big or small. He will touch up a fender bender, or do a full on show car. He did the misses fj62

his name is Pat, 815 724 0930. Thats his home number, when you call it will either ring and ring, cause he has dial up and only on line , or one of his daughters will answer.

Tell him you got his number from John.

hes in new lenox

Phil, Im in! The only thing is that Im trying to see how mechanically sound my truck is before I take it out on a trail. I just don't know enough yet, I've been gathering as much info from the forum as I can. I guess the best thing would be for the real experts to take a look at it. How about we pick a day, Ill have smokies & beer and everyone is invited to come over to my place. It would be great to put a face on all the names out here. Let me know what you fellas think.
