still firing up some things, but it's getting close to ready....ready enuf to get the forum live anyways


had an issue with the new processors and the bios...so we may need some short downtime in a week or so to address that

-----what was done (all to the web server)

yanked out four 15k 37gig SAS Cheetah hard drives in a software RAID config

replaced with four 15k 147gig SAS Cheetah hard drives AND a hardware RAID controller card (leaving us with over 350gig of spare space)

Hardware raid will help speed processes a great deal

switched to CentOS from RedHat



-----what was NOT done

wanted to replace the two existing dual core processors with quad-core processors....however, the bios needed updating. That bombed...did an update, but nothing was found that supported the processors...will be contacting the server company monday on that and hopefully get that going
