Database loss...
had an issue this afternoon, had to go to a backup from Monday...
sorry gang....lost 2ish days of data completely...

Oh darn it!
Makes one realise how much one relys on this site and how much gets posted in just a few days!
But considering the size of the site and how complicated it must be to manage it - it a wonder more of this doesn't happen.

worst part is, it was my own stupidity that caused it....
AT LEAST there are backups to pull from...and my sysadmin was bustin his fingers to get stuff runnin

okay, maybe they weren't there yet, but I'd like to think they were.

'was' M-W-F...but had an issue with the M file....fortunately, we had a 'live' backup running that was created Monday as well, so that was brought in...
WILL be testing immediately to find out why the M backup didn't work, and we discovered a few other issues in the process as well.
also changing to a nightly backup, and have already been in discussions with Barracuda regarding offsite backups of everything...that will be implemented in Sept.

Woody, what tapes do use?
I often visit a dev site and phpbb was not backed up by the host company unknown to the web site administrator. When he went to migrate to a newer version it crashed and was not recoverable. There was no backup and so, we lost two years of forums rich in dev and business discussions. Im pissed so may not return untill thay start a new forum.
