You cannot delete threads you start, other than those you create in chat.

I don't see any option to delete either my threads in chat, or my posts. I've done it in the past, but don't see any way now. It appears others are able to delete, have I offended the mods?? (or which of the things I've done have you found out about?)

When I hover over the "edit" button the description pops up as edit/delete. When I press the "edit" button I get this, no options for deleting. I thought this was where the delete option came up before, but I haven't deleted a lot. I've tried "go advanced", still no delete option. I don't see the option in Thread Tools. Perhaps I'm missing something obvious?

Schweet, I can delete again! There's a thread in chat that has a bit of proprietary information I plan on deleting when it gets back a few pages.

Then there's this thread about hiding keys on an 80, lots of requests to delete, would you mind?
http://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-te...hide-80-a.html

***edit: I spoke too soon, I tried a thread in help instead of a thread in chat, still can't delete in chat.

if you want the 'hiding keys' thread removed, check with the mods....IMO, 'bout any thief will know all that stuff anyways....

Thanks Woody.

More strangeness...

I'm getting the "delete" option here in Help, and in tech, but not in Chat, that's weird. I tried a couple different threads, no "delete". Maybe I'm running out of...

Hmm, then maybe that's normal, doesn't make sense to me though, and Woody's reply seemed to imply different. I have an old thread in chat that I'll go through and edit all my entries, since I can't delete them or the thread.

You can keep it this way, I'll just have to think before I post I just started that thread in chat to see if this was a common problem or just a few of us. Of course, a lot of mudders wisely never venture into chat and would never know.

I did go through and edit a thread I didn't want left on the web. It had some work-related content that might be awkward if found by my customer or their competition. That was the only time I really could've used the feature, other than the keyhide thread, but that was in tech anyway.

I think you are looking for Thread Tools in the wrong place. It's not on the "edit" button at the bottom of your post, it's at the top next to Search This Thread. I just went to a tech thread where my green star doesn't shine and I can delete threads I started. Note that deleting a thread is different than deleting an individual post.

I didn't find "thread delete" in the thread tools, still looking. The fact that I can't delete individual posts tells me it's probably not just something I can't find. In about a year my star will expire, maybe when I renew it'll reset things correctly.

It looks like the "Thread Tools" you have includes a section called "Moderation Tools", perhaps for mods only.

hhmm......what other usergroups do you belong to?

suspect it's a permissions/hierarchy issue....will take some research to fix but I'll check into it later in the week once I've recovered from the past couple...haha

Don't know what is going on. I don't mod the Paint and Body, so it's not my star power. I can do the same in other forums too, but only threads I start.

Usergroups? I spend enough time here already, haven't gotten into anything else. No hurry, I don't start many threads, this isn't even an inconvenience.
