Is there a way to refer a link to a thread but have the thread open at a specific post number.

I know how to link a thread ...

I know how to link a single post ...

But can I link an entire thread with the thread opening on a specific post number.

This could be helpful for getting someone to the part of a long thread that is relevant to the current situation. Similar to how the "Go to new posts" works. It bypasses all the stuff you don't need to read.

The only way I know is to look through the persons posts (In their profile), and click the link to that post.... Can be time consuming and I noticed the other day that I could not go back more than 10 pages in my own post history.....? Don't know what's up with that.

Just brings me to the top of the thread not to the specific post.

I also tried adding "&postcount=23" to the URL and that invalidates the link.

- So I can grab the second line by right clicking on the individual post number of a post I want.
- Then paste into my response
- edit showpost to showthread
- add #postXXXXXXX at the end of the URL and it should work.

Test - I had to change these to non-functioning URLs (by adding a dash) because the software keeps truncating them so you can't see the code.

Not needed apparently. So there is the technique. I can't see it being used a lot but if you want to forward someone to a specific post and it's follow on replies without them having to read the earlier posts then this will do the trick. Might be useful for a FAQ or something.

I right clicked on the post count number and got this

I simply changed the words showpost to showthread.
