Will the tags allow for short words? I can't recall what the lower limit is but there have been times that we have used common abbreviations (HG=Head Gasket) where the Search wouldn't allow the term.
Can these search tags be added to older threads? If yes, does it have to be done via edit by a Mod?
This is a great addition Woody, as long the OP uses this new feature wisely. No misspelled words and put some thought into the key words.
The forum is growing so fast that it is getting hard even for those of us that are expert at using the Advanced Search. A lot of posts get returned unless you can remember some uncommon word combination from the original discussions and it helps if you remember who used the word combination.
Thanks for continuing to improve the best 'Cruiser resource on the planet!

at present, it's only for new threads...old stuff would have to be manually added. I'll wager an "auto-tag" option will appear someday tho for the earlier stuff
search allows for short terms, just use HG* or *HG* as wildcards
At some point, I can set things to make tags required, but haven't at this point...IMO, that might get messy...lol

So I admit I'm kinda dumb about how to set up a "tag".
Will you provide examples?
Lets say I'm selling the following:
2F engine
Tail lights
Thanks for the time and this looks to be a great addition to Mud.

tags are added when you originally post the thread....you simply add those keywords into the tag input box below the thread title

Is it only me who hates these things?
These are the yellow/orange highlighted words in a post correct?
Personally, I think they are a PITA, they make reading the posts difficult and with some posts the amount of words that STAND OUT on the page is ridiculous. Also if your mouse comes near one, (and there are many) then something pops up and tells you Mitsubishi make an AWD, or use search to find something) What a PITA!
The problem I have with them that most of the time they are not in any way related to the KEY CONTENT of the post.
Why would you tag 4WD, this is a 99% 4WD forum
Why would you tag JEEP when you are talking about borrowing tools from a JEEP OWNER
Why would you tag "turke" when you are changing your power steering fluid.
Lets make it one tag per thread, and only if it is related to the KEY technical nature of the thread!
Or get rid of them all together, the search function works fine.
My .02..........I won't be using them at all until a controlled system is installed that is a benefit to the users of the forum, not a hinderance.
