register in Readers Rides fails

I tried to register in the Readers Rides database but I had an error :

Content-type: text/html
Software error:
DB_Add_Record: Error opening database: readersdata/readers.txt Permission
denied

For help, please send mail to the webmaster (webmaster@ih8mud.com), giving this
error message and the time and date of the error.

JUST beat up the server again, and it "should" be working....

stupid .txt files refuse to remain chmod'd to 666 like they are supposed to be...

dammit...same friggin error...no matter what we do, the files REFUSE to remain chmod'd to rw-rw-rw-

Ryan and I will take yet another look at it....as much as the damn thing is pissin me off, it may just vanish too.....VERY frustrating.....

It sounds like something is recreating the file, as opposed to just updating it. My UNIX skills are kinda rusty, but I think that is the only way it could keep resetting the permissions. Maybe you should setup a daemon that does a chmod to 666 on the file every five minutes or so? Wouldn't be perfect but might ease the pain...

cron job is possible....have one running already for the adserver software....but that doesn't explain why it reverts.

....and, this hasn't been an issue on past servers and the software hasn't changed....it figgers we find a new fast home, and one little thing comes up to irritate me....lol

...maybe I'll try a larger caliber....

Well, I managed to sneak in under the wire to post my 40. Question - is there a way to post my 80 as well? I tried to "add" another but my username was already taken (by myself, obviously).
