yeah, those are Buffs, they're getting pretty popular here for sun protection. I don't care how much sun screen you use, the sun's reflection off the water kicks yer ass.

I am going to kill this year spearfishing. No salmon in NorCal? No sweat. Time to nail some rockfish....

48-52F in the water and plenty of kelp. My mouth is just watering thinking about it right now.

Almost forgot about this thread.

Been out twice so far this year. Didn't get any ice over the winter.
My bud caught this Golden trout yesterday. About 5lbs. Really insane colors on it.
Got me a little LM. And a new ride to tow the boat. Lot more building to do on the 80 yet.

Michingan steel! My friend Brian with the first one of the day. We hooked about 8, landed 4, also caught about 10 suckers.

Had my boy out only for about an hour tonight due to the pollen bothering his eyes so much. At 6 he's finally at the point where he's comfortable tossing 'em out there with the spinning setup, setting the hook and reeling them in all by himself. Only thing dad needs to do now is take pics, provide the snack, and keep him entertained when they're not biting.

All 3 were 1-1/2 to 2-1/2lb with the one in the pic coming in right at 2lb.

He had a cut on his hand and the glove was to keep the bandage on "Dad, I'm not going home yet, just give me a big band-aid"

That's not me, I was behind the camera.

It's a fish handling glove. It allows you to get a good grip without squeezing super hard and protects their slime layer, so you can more easily release them unharmed. The net in the picture is also designed to be very gentle to the fish. We carefully release all the steelhead we catch as they are wild and somewhat endangered up here.

I tried to hold it as close to the camera as possible.

We caught those little fish all day long. Nothing big but probably 100 or so small ones.

Ah i thought it might be something like that i've just never seen one that looked like that before. The ones i've seen are big and floppy and akward. Beautiful fish by the way.

I don't have any kids to take fishing so I did the next best thing. I took my dad fishing this last weekend.

We caught 4 others on Saturday about 3 Lbs each but I forgot to take a pic before I cleaned them. First pic is Sunday's catch and second pic is yesterday's catch. More than half of these were caught on rod and reel. We caught about 20 more that were too small to keep.

My dad will be 65 in a couple of months. We had a blast, and now I have a freezer full of catfish fillets.

Just found this thread. Some pretty awesome pics. I especially like the "first catch" pics of the kids.
Here's our middle son a couple of years ago. We were at Cub Scout Day camp (the kids spend the day in activities and go home each evening) and I was running the fishing activity. The day had ended and my son and I were playing w/ a new 5-piece backpacking rod. There were several bass in the creek but they would not strike on anything that I had. (Having been fed all day long by the 120+ Cub Scouts that day) I finally pulled out a 30 yr old "Lucky 13" that my Mom had given me from Dad's tackle box. It was always my favorite lure when I was growing up. I figured that if it snagged, I'd go swimming in the creek for it. Tossed the line to the far bank of the creek and before I could hand it to my son to reel in, two or three bass jumps on the Lucky 13. I set the line and handed the rod to my son. Half way across the creek the bass jumps out of the water and flails back and forth (picture perfect). He has the rod tip up in the air and enough tension to keep the fish on the hook and lands him all on his own. We caught a few more that evening before we headed home.
